AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET LOSS OF
OVER
4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL
COMPANIES.

THEREFORE MAY 19TH HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED "STICK IT TO THE GAS MAN"
DAY
AND THE PEOPLE OF THIS NATION SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE DROP OF GASOLINE
THAT
DAY.

You do not buy gas, gas goes to places that will. It would not be good to do this.

Though I believe it will have a very bad backlash due to the way capitalism works. People do not buy gas in America, gas is sold to places that will (China for example).

The entire idea is economicly retarded.

Most fuel in the US is purchased by comercial transports IE trucking companies.

The only person that this would hurt is the guy who owns the gas station (who, btw, make less than 2cents per gallon off fuel sales)

The majority of the cost, above the actual market cost, are taxes.
If you take the tax money away, the government will just get it somewhere else.

If you want to save money on gas, drive a fuel effecent vehicle (motorcycle or bicycle) or just walk.

If you want to lower fuel prices....well, you can't.

Trying to screw the gas companies and the economy because of the demand that you yourself help to create is so incredibly smart! It's going to do exactly what, other than heavily damage the economy and give a bit of satisfaction to douche bags? The oil companies don't drive gas prices, YOU do. Though I'm sure their little cabal sets itself up for a slightly greater profit than it otherwise would get, gas prices are driven by world market conditions, not some magical conspiracy. Anyhow, where I live, something like 1/3 the price of gas is tax. Are the oil companies really the ones that are gouging us?

The fact is oil is a global commodity. The only way out of the dilemma is to develop alternative fuels and power sources and to reduce the consumption by way of life style changes.

There are viable alternatives to oil, such as nuclear-power produced hydrogen (that's the only way hydrogen as an energy medium will be economically viable, incidentally) and a nuclear-driven electrical grid. However, self-styled environmentalists have stopped us from using this clean and powerful energy sense, simply for their own sense of purpose and self-engrandizement. When fusion reactors are invented, I'll bet these fools will oppose them as well, simply for the fact that nuclear fusion contains that evil, evil word..
