A modest proposal

for preventing the weak minded in the Americas from being a burden to their society or country and for making them more productive members of the public.
In the world today there is a problem. That problem is religion. The world is full of radicals and full of zealous monks of one religion or another. These people kill others in the name of God. They believe that God tells them to kill other people. They believe that giving their life for their god is the ultimate salvation. These insane so called religious people believe in nothing.
According to science, the human race is a highly evolved species that spawned from random natural selection and for this period of the earth's history we are simply the race that dominates the planet. Those facts given to us by science which have been proven over and over again discredit most religions. What the world needs now is love for brother and sister and apathy concerning radical ideas about reforming life to morality and holiness. People will do what they desire. That is what is right for each person.
In the late 17th century and early 18th century religious extremists were burnt at the stake for calling upon their higher powers to cause social unrest in Salem, Massachusetts. Justice was served for the people of Salem. The lackeys of that religion who gave nothing to the people of Salem except curses and bad fortune were put in jail for their crimes against humanity and science. The courts of Salem were logical in these rulings. One should propose a current law registering each person that follows one god or another and possibly jail those people because of the many crimes and troubles caused by 'religious' persons.
Each person has their own heaven and own way of getting there. Many people do not believe in the afterlife. This is a logical conclusion based on science and the reality of this universe. Therefore, heaven for one person could be living the most pleasurable life possible. Whatever makes that person feel good is what they should do sine it gives them results immediately and gives them the power to do what they want. Who has ever heard of a bong or ounce of cocaine asking someone to crash into a building or to go on a holy crusade to dominate the so-called holy land? We all know that the human race came out of Africa when the first Homo Erectus stood on his two legs and walked north.
Some people have compassion for others and are full of emotion. For these people their 'heaven' would be something like helping people or developing a new way to create peace and harmony among the peoples. Without faith there would be much less debating on issues like assisted suicide, abortion, and drug abuse. It would be peace for all mankind, equilibrium across the board. People who feel this way about the human race would be the peace-makers. These people would be satisfied by helping people and could completely live through the pleasure of other people being happy.
Religion has been a big thing of the past. But the recent religious groups popping up domestically in the United States that are trying to take away rights from our citizens to pursue what makes them happy. Remember the radical religions of the middle east killing each other over an imaginary holy land and bombing United States embassies. If a logical person were to look at religion today they would be in favor of complete abolishment. Religion has very little redeeming value and if the average person were to weigh out what religion has done for them and the troubles it has caused for them. I'm sure the majority would agree that religion is a bad, man-created, radical-attracting crutch.
In a truly good world there would be no religion but rather love and kindness for everyone and everything. Never forget September 11th and the religion that was used to further that cause. May peace and atheism dominate this country in the ideal of freedom from religion.

Are you really speaking against religion, or is this supposed to be a joke...like a modest proposal was.
I hope it's a joke...

Normally I'd agree with you there, but there's not really much else to say...assuming the Don is being sincere

This is why I assume it's a joke. In Salem, the extremists were the people burning witches at the stake- not the ones being burned! Obviously you have to believe in some kind of (illogical) superstition in order to believe that they had higher powers and were able to bring curses and bad fortune.

No, I am not being sincere. I named the post a modest proposal for a reason and gave a reference to the original work by Jonathon Swift for a reason. Hope I didn't offend anyone, I just thought it would give a good laugh to look into an extreme anti-religious mind and I had hoped people would know it was satire from the title.

God is omnipotent (all-powerful) what could possibly be too hard to control?
