Legalize It - Pato Banton

I personally am not a smoker (yet). I've promised myself I'm not going to try it until I'm out of high school.

But I still strongly believe it should be legalized, and most definitely for medicinal purposes.

Don't legalize it. That'll just let Philip Morris in on the deal, it'll let the government tax it and will lower the quality of weed. Just decriminalise it and allow a citizen to grow two plants for personal use in private, and they can sell the excess to coffee shops.

The government would never go for that. You know they never go along with an idea unless they benefit from it

I agree with you fully on this. We're spending billions on a "drug war" that's created a thriving black market, and wasting prison space on mostly non-violent felons. It would make much more sense to focus on treatement, while regulating and taxing all legal drugs.

Well, I don't know about the US, but in the UK they might, because a) it's been proven to work in Holland and b) they've spent so long going on about how crap it is, they couldn't change their minds now. Legalising it would be seen as condoning it, rather than decriminalising, which could be seen as pragmatic tolerance.

Hmm. I can't actually remember the last time I saw someone stoned get in a fight. You're not confusing it with that totally legally and socially encouraged drug- alcohol?
I'm fed up of stoners being portrayed as violent criminals, while my society condones and pressurises young men to drink and drink and drink then fight....

Well he was lambasting the whole drug war. Which encompasses cocaine and things like that.

Even so, if it was just marijuana, then your probably right.

I would have to agree with this quote. Stoners are actually very docile. I know I was.
