Wow. Err America is so great, isn't it? Actually, it's a disaster, and I am far from the only person saying so. Heck, I don't even get the satisfaction of being the first one to say "I told you so." However, I want to predict that at the pace they're going, they more than likely will be off-air before the November elections.
- Michael Goodwin spent some time recently listening to Al Franken and all the other "radio pros" at Err America. His report (http://www.dailyvanguard.com/vnews/display.v/ART/2004/05/14/40a45e1d8ea2e), originally in the New York Post, and covered here from the Portland State University Daily Vanguard is...shall we say...not good.
- Lisa Fabrizio (http://mensnewsdaily.com/archive/f/fabrizio/2004/fabrizio051304.htm) covers, not just Err America, but also the new website by former conservative turned liberal David Brock, and the TV network that Algore recently purchased.
- It's pretty sad when (as you may well remember,) a radio network paying stations to carry its programming (usually it works the other way around,) bounces the checks to pay for such airtime (as you remember, it led to Err America going off the air in Los Angeles and Chicago.) Now it seems they can't even pay their staff! (http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/chi-040506airamerica,1,3338899.story?coll=chi-business-hed) (Registration required. You can also find it here. (http://www.drudgereportarchives.com/data/2004/05/07/20040507_050202_flash5.htm)) Is that a way to run a business?
- To add to Err America's trouble, the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the company resigned recently. (http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=503&u=/ap/20040507/ap_en_bu/liberal_radio_shakeup_3&printer=1) Anybody home?
- And I guess there's no point to having sales offices in cities where you're no longer on the air (http://www.reuters.com/printerFriendlyPopup.jhtml?type=industryNews&storyID=5125267), right?
Mark my words...November 2004 won't pass before Err America is off the air.
