Think there will be peace by the time the country is 100?

Well, I got a kick out of something Isreali rabbis were saying.. they want to withdraw their alliance with the USA, when, ironically, we're pretty much one of the few people who have kept the rest of the Middle East from going *THWOMP* on them. I'll find the article if I can.

Both would happen, most likely.

Israel would stomp on the Arabs one last time before the entire Middle East mobilized against them.

You think the world would last for Israel to turn 100? The Mayans don't.

Technically the event scheduled to take place in 2012 of the Gregorian calander is simply the end of an age. It isn't the end of all things. The end of an age to the ancient Mayans mearly ment a time of great upheval and change as the gods scrambled in a synchronous and repeating power struggle for control of the world. Granted things have changed a bit since the last age ended (as nukes have come to replace bows and clubs), but the Mayan calander does extend beyond 2012, just the age we are living in will have changed.

As for Israel, so long as the US keeps exercising its veto on the Security Counsel Israel will still be around and have imunity, the question is if they can resist nuking the PLO, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria for the next 44 years.

The opposite is true, actually. The USA is the one keeping the Israelis from going *THWOMP* on the rest of the Middle East. The Arabs would just get their asses kicked again if they attacked Israel (again). If they somehow managed to defeat the Israelis conventionally, the Israelis would just break out the nukes.

um, thats happened like 5 times already, exept it was the entire middle east mobilising first and then the mass thwomping, the order is kinda important

The Arabs got the Man power but the Isreali's got the tech. Hmmm Come to think of It I'd bet on the Arabs. Only a few countries are equipped for that kind of Large scale warfare thesedays. And Isreal Aint one of them.

Jerusalem doesn't seem all that unified to me.

Granted, if the situation really flares up, such as links found between Middle Eastern governments and Hamas, and maybe Islamic Jihad or Al'Qaeda as well, there will be a lot of major thwomping. If Israel cracks out its nukes, Pakistan would probably do the same, and so India can come along and thwomp Pakistan out of existence from behind. If Israel doesn't, a lot of western countries will decide to take a more aggressive stance against the Arabs.

Celebrating Israel's independence by the Arab count? Sorry, won't do. We've marked our independence day almost a month ago, and quite happily.

I personally think that's a more significant event than the creation of Israel. The Jews had their great holy sights barely out of reach until that time. If they are ever in the event where they give up the West Bank, they should at least keep the Old City of Jerusalem.
