Begotten-oh man, if you've seen this......not everyone can make it through this first film by the Shadow of the Vampire filmmaker. (I ad that to sucker people into seeing it.....)
Elephant Man (often refered to as the best movie I'll never watch again. You have to be willing to feel bad for a really long time)
I'm blanking, I know there are more movies that I afterward thought 'that ain't right...'

Interestingly that film was allowed into Britain uncut because the censors thought that there would be little interest in a independent, black and white Belgian film.

Even with the rape scene? My understanding of whats allowed in Britain is that rape is a complete no-no. If there is a standard that small films are more relaxed than large films then that's actually a pretty kickass artistic enviroment, in an odd kind of way.

Cannot find anywhere that says it was banned/etc. over that scene. But many places say that the British version is the only English version not to be cut (for the aforesaid reason). iirc the rape scene was very explicit, but that British law (until recently i think) banned anything depicting actual penetration so it may have been allowed. I have been thinking of similar films, with rape scenes. The first one to spring to mind was a Clockwork Orange, but that was withdrawn by the director (kubrick) rather than banned or cut. Otherwise I don't know. With luck it might be on Film Four again soon, (in case you don't know Film4 tends to have a small introduction for these films which would explain it)

Cannibal Holocaust because of the genuine animal death.

I have never seen it, what do you mean by genuine animal death? Is it only a few or is it a whole scale massacre (as suggested by the movie name)?

But how concentrated is the killing? A few I could handle, since I've seen it first hand, but it is loads then I reckon I would find it disturbing.

Try being forced to watch fatal attraction, 3 times in a row, when your only 8.. When the wind blows, again when i was 8, screwed me up for a while.

More recently, red dragon was actually quite disturbing for some reason.

---------------------------------

Completely unrelated, i dont think rape scenes are banned in the UK. I remember seeing straw dogs a little while back, and that was quite famous in the 70's, that had a rape scene in it.

Cannibal Holocaust because of the genuine animal death. I personally found the castration scene to be the most disgusting, but the real animal deaths were also very offensive, especially the turtle dissection scene.
