I suspect my family of being secretly Mormon

No as some of you know everyone in my family is pretty much either Lutheran or Catholic. However, I was cleaning the car the other day and I found foru copies of the Book of the Mormon. Now one copy, I could understand maybe a friend could have left. But, four copies makes me think something is up. Not just that, but I found all kind of Mormon panflets hidden in a drawer.

Some of you may think this a tad crazy, but you wouldn't say that if you were dragged along to the opening og a new Mormon Temple last year. This is not right, I refuse to change religions again. Especially not to one as confusing as Mormanisim, and damned if I'm baptising myself for dead relatives.

Well as the wise and religious people of South Park said, "The right religion is mormanism." Said by satan himself...maybe... no.
13-05-2004, 11:14
Actually they said. "Sorry the correct religion was the Mormons"

Whatever, I don't watch enough South Park to memorize the words. Simpsons on the other hand... Quite sad really.
13-05-2004, 11:16
I had the simpsons memorised too. Then it got shitty.

Back to the real issue, if you wish to call it that. The thing I want to know is what did you change from before? Because you mentioned you didn't want to change relgions AGAIN.

Actually, don't. I found the book of Mormon at a Jesuit school. No idea why it was there.

This is just sad, really. Perhaps you should lead your family in a daily affirmation...

"Say it loud!"

"I'm Mormon and I'm proud!"

Rotovia, if you switch religions to suit your tie as you said, why do you associate yourself with any particular religion?
Why not just say, "This is what I believe." and let other people categorize you as they see fit. I myself am a baptized and confirmed Lutheran and I went to a Catholic High School for 4 years, so I have seen many sides to organized religion and differences of beliefs between people. I think any organized religion is too constricting for someone to follow. I am a true beliver in "Personal Religion", meaning that the individual creates the religion they follow and leave room for expansion and assmilation of other ideas and beliefs.

Because catholicism is a nearly doctrineless religion

wha?!

You know, all those canon laws, Papal Bulls, the Summa Theologica (sp?) etc aren't real doctorines

protestantism has a half million sects

What does that prove? If anything, only that Protestantism is fragmentorary (sp?)

so basically he just picks and chooses what to believe to justify whatever he's doing at that time

At least he's honest about it :P

not too christlike, but not too uncommon

Because your really Christ like aren't you Raysia ;)

As for Catholicism being doctrineless, the common complaint seems to be we are over-doctrinised.

excuse me, that came out wrong... when I said doctrineless, I meant to say that people pick and choose what to believe out of the faith, and that you can't believe every tenant of the faith without being called a fundie...

Umm... Clearly you have not seen the catechism of the Catholic church. IT'S OVER ONE THOUSAND FREAKING PAGES THICK!
And mormons split out into a bunch of sects. You've got your east coast mormons, your polygamous mormons, your mormon mormons... you get the picture. And religion should be based on personal interpitation. After all, my religion says this:

You came from your mom. You're going to die. Everything else is uncertain.

Tell your parents to run like hell. I went to a mormon temple a few times.

The Catholic Church has alot of different doctrines. Protestantism has alot of sects but they all believe in pretty much the same things. Mormonism also has different sects, like the Reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints. And I have met alot of mormons that pick and choose what they believe in, such as plurality of gods, and God cursing the black people etc.
