"So desu ne" is a Japanese phrase,roughly equivalent to "Ah,I see." (VERY roughly,as it can have other connotations that I don't know how to describe off the top of my head.) You hear it a lot if you listen to Japanese people talking to one another or if you ever get into a conversation with a native Japanese speaker.
