I need to get back home more often. I was unaware cosplay had crossed over to the US. Here I was thinking you were going to make fun of Japan. This is scary.

A lot of those US (I am assuming US...) cosplayers serve as proof that a lot of things work best in the original cultural context.... And yes, that definately goes for things coming to Japan from the west as well. Most Japanese rock music, for example, is a poor, pale, bad imitation of the real thing. Goth (http://jpatokal.iki.fi/photo/travel/Japan/Tokyo/People/) works pretty well on Japanese girls though... (and I get to see lots of stuff like this around Osaka. :? Never have seen a goth guy though.)

Saying furry is just a sexual thing is like saying anime or sci-fi are just for sex. Furry is primarily about the art, and an appreciation of animals/nature. True, we have our share of freaks, but every other fandom does too. Our freaks just happen to have a LOT of visibility.

But yeah, it's unfair to say all furries are a bunch of sexual freaks, just like saying all anime fans are in that fandom just for dirty hentai porn.
