Seriously, who gives a damn? There are so many anti-America threads, pro-America threads, anti-Gay threads, pro-Gay threads, and there are hundreds of threads complaining about all the other threads (hey, that seems familiar). Frankly: Who gives a damn?

I'm American, white, not Gay (but pro Gay rights), upper middle class, anti-Bush (But I can't stand Kerry), Jewish, and I have friends that belong to every single ethnicity and religion that I know of. You have a problem with that, or agree with that, so what? You saying how all Americans are evil and lazy, or how Gays are an abomination against God, or that all Jews are money grubbing (Sadly, I actually do fit the Jewish stereotype), will not make me suddenly dislike America or change my stance on Gay rights. You saying how I'm right and that everything is good will not make those who are against it go for it. Essentially, why bother?

These threads do nothing but take up forum space. They make no headway against those who are pro or anti whatever is under discussion. They do nothing. So, why bother?

Umm, this is a forum for a game that's all about politics and lawmaking and the economy and whatnot. OF COURSE there are going to be lots of those kinds of discussions here! In fact, there are on a lot of message boards all over the place (although this one has it particularly bad), because those seem to be the new forum for debate and discussion. I've noticed that people tend to discuss things on the Internet that they wouldn't touch IRL.

I know these things can get frustrating (especially when they are misspelt and not eloquent, which is often the case). If you don't like the political/religious/whatever issues, though, stay out of the General boards, because they aren't going away. At least take a break and calm down.

Plain and simply NS is a soapbox for those who otherwise would have no voice or the courage to Express their beliefs in public. As such, it attracts those who are unlikely to be influenced by opinions that do not mirror their own, let alone those opinions diametricly opposed to their own. Hence all the shouting that drowns out debate.
