Well Think about it. America as far as i know Has nothing to gain from being a UN member. All they do is try and delay us from doing what we need to do. Costs money to keep their embassies here. They cant enforce sanctions any way and are calling for our help alot with out doing anything in return. We have to listen to people who wouldnt mind seeing us die any way. Look at that scandle that was discovered? Practicly saying "Screw you America you a member of the UN you cant do anything without OUR Aproval" I say Screw it we have enough allies in Nato. We can go into action alot quicker and without warning the enemy and No french Veto would stop us.

I think that's a rather immature attitude to take. The idea of the U.N. is to be a regulating force in international politics - but since participation is voluntary, and the U.N. doesn't have a way to enforce its rules when it comes to big countries like the U.S., it doesn't always work.

Y'know, it's interesting that America was fine with the U.N. when they were just doing things our way, and we tsked at countries that didn't obey the U.N. (or bombed them, depending on the offense), but now that the rest of the civilized world doesn't share an opinion with us we think it's fine to run roughshod over them.

If America withdrew from the U.N. altogether, it would probably do more harm than good. We wouldn't be able to have as much influence in world affairs as we do now, at least not legitimately - and if some other country becomes a superpower in the next 100 years that can be equal to ours, and we're not in the U.N., then we'll be at least partway screwed.
