Yeah, so, the ACLU is trying to take religion away? Really? You think??

Yup, suing a school for removing a girl's Bible verse senior quote is taking her religion away. (Funny, at my school if your quote was deemed unacceptable, they put in a Bible verse LOL)

I don't think the ACLU is anti-religion. They're just really nervous about mixing religion and government, or religion and education, since when people use religion as a basis for lawmaking or what have you it often means interfering with people's civil rights.

The ACLU is fine with religion, just not with forcing it on other people.

Erm....exactly my point. Sarcasm is really hard to get across around here LOL. I won't name any names, but there are those on this board who claim the ACLU is anti-religion and is out to get them and that they are trying to get religion made illegal.

not to kill your enthusiasm, but i've tried posting examples of the ACLU defending religious freedoms before. people on these boards either love the ACLU or hate it, and those that hate it aren't about to consider something as trivial as evidence whilst jumping to their conclusions.

sorry, but i am jaded today.

I know you were being sarcastic, but as you said, there are lots of people here who think the ACLU is anti-religion, and there are lots of people who can't recognize sarcasm on a message board. Think of it as a sort of disclaimer.

i admire the aclu in its stance on civil liberties and the constitution. they help the poor downtrodden one day and the nazi a-hole the next. free speech is free speech even if i dont agree with what being said
someone needs to stand up for the constitution even when the person being silenced is utterly wrong

No religion is a good thing. The world would be so peaceful without religion.
