Whenever I shut my eyes, or turn off the light in my room....I see weird fuzzy greenish-whitish "fog"....

Is this bad? I think I oughta see a doctor...not ask YOU guys!
I just...you know....wanna double-check before I declare California in a State of Emergency

hey, even funnier, i just realised if i shut one eye and look at a blank piece of paper, it will have a bluey green tinge, and if i shut the other instead, it has a reddish tinge.

Now thats weird.

Then it's probably nothing to worry about, unless it's gotten worse.

I think its just an optical illusion. Like right after some takes a picture of you with the flash on.
Or like if you stare at a red object for a while and then look at a white piece of paper you'll see a shadow of that object in blue.

I'm gonna put mine down to years of radiation from TV and Computer screens.

And then when I go blind, I'll sue Max Barry. Muahahahaha!

Oooh....right, that happens to me too now that I think about it. (I just tried it, heh. But now that I notice it, I'll see it all the time. Thanks. :P )

That's your pupils getting bigger so they can catch more light, so you can 'see' in the dark. It's normal and nothing to worry about at all.

Heh....sorry man, I think your vision is just messed up. Or maybe you've been looking at the mointer for too long. Try the same thing when you're away from keyboard. If the same results happen....then you know it's your vision.

Maybe i'm a bit colourblind and never realised it...but both eyes are colourblind in a way that if i have them both open, everything looks normal. lol :)

Well if it's not broken, don't fix it. Or in this case- If it doesn't bother you, don't worry about it.

wow, if thats a problem my eyes are really f**cked up. when i close my eyes i see a outline of the last thing i saw with millions of insane colors
Zhudor

Hmm, the outline of what you saw last is normal - it's the effect of your eyes cells getting drained from what they need to "see". According to the outline, diferent cells get drained differently so it's going to "stick". If your eyes are tired, this becomes more prominent.

The static is also normal, because it's just erratic cell activity that every sensor cell exhibits - much like the satic you hear in the radio. Normally the brain filters this out, but if you concentrate on NOT filtering, you'll see it.

The different color vision on both eyes is normal as well, AFAIK. I've got it, too, one reddish, one blueish. Always had it and it didn't change. No doctor complained so it's not a degrading thing.

The original topic, however, I don't really know. These things go away after some time (may take long, however), but they reappear igf you exert pressure (slight! :)) at the eye. I assume this is because the nerves can get stimulated by means other than light as well.
Still, it might be that this is similar to static - every eye generates it but the brain usually filters it out. In the darkness, there's nothing but this static so if your brain isn't trained on filtering it out it will not go away. Nothing to worry about if it doesn't bother you - it's like never having learned, say, latin. If you don't want it, you don't need to care.

However, since I'm not a medical trained person, I can't really comment on this but I'd say you don't need to worry but also shouldn't take my opinion as a fact, OK? If you don't feel confident you should see a doctor and get rid of the uncertainity. In the (IMO highly unlikely) case it is something to worry about, it's better to recognise it as early as possible than to wait until it possibly can't be fixed anymore.
Zhudor

Oh, and it IMO can't be nightblindness because that would manifest differently: you'd see almost nothing after sunset unless there are streetlights near you. Moonlight wouldn't suffice, IIRC. But if it is, it can't be fixed anyway, AFAIK.
