I have two leopard geckos, named Mr. and Mrs. Gecko.. Today they laid eggs for the third time. This time, however, I have an incubator, and hopefully in a month i'll have little gecko babies! yay :D

Does anybody want one?

aww, leopard geckos are cute. I'm surprised you got them mto stay alive. i know somebody who had two, one died of shock, and the other became afraid of the cockroaches he was meant to eat because he accidentally poked himself in the eye on it's antenna >_0

Maybe they'll help save the endangered wooka-wooka bird?

I live in england, so unless you are prepared to pay for their airline tickets - sorry!

As they get older, they lose their stripes and go all spotty!

Ooh, I like Geckos! Funny little things! I wish they were able to survive in Europe, but they wouldn't get through the winter. And I know I culdn't care well enough for them, so this isn't an option for me.

ay be able to buy one, i'll ask my folks first, and if they say yea, how much?
Moozimoo
13-05-2004, 07:01
well, I'll give you the geckos for free, but the cage and stuff is a bit pricey.

also you need a pet shop nearby that sells crickets (they eat live food) cos you have to buy them every other week. cage is about £50, and all the other stuff you need (heating mat, lamp etc) comes to about £70.

You are looking at spending at least £150 al in one go.

Any questions/Have I scared you away?

I'm raising three long toed salamanders, and one has already metamorphosed! Quite facinating!

Geckos are indeed cute. i love their little toes. But they are so annoying when there are countless geckos running here and there on the bed, on the walls, upside down on the ceilings! oh it drove me crazy! and u know what, these geckos made loud kissing noises. i always thought that was interesting. Do urs make that noise?

wow i wish i lived somewhere where you didn't need a cage, and they could just roam free.... where do you live? no, I heard them sneeze, but that's all. What happens when salamanders metamorphose?

There is a shop near by called "two by two", they sell exotic pets, like snakes, tortoises and other lizards, so i guess they will sell crickets. Also, there is a garden centre up the road which sells pets and stuff, and last time i went up there to buy my little sis a rabbit, they sold a tank, with a light and some mat thing for about £50, it was about 15cm deep, 30cm long and 20cm wide (approx), do you think this will be big enough? and what do they need to sleep in, drink from and what do you lay the tank with?
Moozimoo

thats not big enough i'm afraid. mine (for two adults) is 60x40x40 (cm).
you need to buy some cork bark for them to hide under, and the cage is laid with what looks like tiny little stones - I actually have no idea what it is, i just pick up a bag every month :) .
for water bowls and stuff, I would recommend

HOWEVER: this is the first time I have ever tried to raise leopard gecko eggs. the odds of them actually hatching are probably less than 50%. :(
They will lay 2-3 more times this year, 2 eggs at a time. Have you asked your parents yet?
Kelhsan
14-05-2004, 21:02
I have asked and they said maybe. Now, the majority of the time this means no, but whenever i ask near my birthday, i normally get it as a present. Like when i asked for an air rifle in June, baecuse my birthday was not far away, they bought it, so there may be a chance they mean yes, i'll keep you informed. And would that tank be big enough for just one? Or do they get lonely on their own?

Hey dude, for £40 a guy is selling a corn snake and all the stuff to go with it. I can sell the corn snake to two-by-two, i have not seen the tank yet, but if its big enough for a corn snake, i think it should be able to house a Gheko
Moozimoo
15-05-2004, 06:57
that's great! make sure they'll buy it off you though before you buy the snake, otherwise you'll be stuck with it. The tank should be big enough, and it should have all the equipment. Keep me informed. :D
Kelhsan
15-05-2004, 09:52
lol, good idea! I'll let you know the dimensions of the tank before before i buy it, just incase. I ahould think they would buy the snake, buy i'll make sure.
15-05-2004, 10:22
I would take one but I have no clue as to how to take care of them and they probably wouldn't survive getting here.

Cute tho.

kelhsan, i'm sorry, but I just discovered that the eggs have gone mouldy

i think it was because i put too much water in the incubator...

I don't know what you want to do now, they will lay again this year though.
