i saw the original, and i almost rented zatoichi- but it was still new and more expensive. ill see it when it becomes a cheap rental. it was pretty popular here, and the blond main character is a famous and really hilarious comedian here.

yeah, takeshi kitano is one of my favorite actors. hes been in lots of gangster/yakuza movies in japan, which is strange since he started out as a stand up commedian

in 1 show he wears a crazy wig and makeup, its funny.
