Centrist

I'm a centrist. I'm wedged in between the left and the right. So I can bash whichever party I don't like at any time. Sometimes I'm a Fat Bastard and sometimes I'm a Filthly Hippie. It all depends on my mood really.
I wonder if there are any other centrists here.

I'm centrist in RL (I've taken countless political compass quizzes that verify the result) and my nation (which is ruled by how I see fit) is an "Inoffensive Centrist Democracy."

I used to call myself Centrist, as well as my nation being an "Inoffensive Centrist Democracy". But recently I'd say I've become somewhat liberal and my nation is a Scandinavian Liberal Paradise

All hail the middleground!

and again i say, the middle ground between what? i don't like the term centrist. it doesn't actually describe anything at all - which means it can describe almost anything.

Cheers to you guys!

The way I see it, the Radical Center is the only way out of this polarized political quagmire we've gotten ourselves into. Hail the Center!

"The Radical Center"? heheh...

But yeah, I have to say that centrists have to be the most logical group. The left and right want to destroy each other so much that they don't listen to the arguments being made. We, on the other hand, view each situation from each group's perspective and then make a decision. Some people may say that we don't have a set of core values to stand up for, but I say that allows us to remain fluid as the times change. Rigid dogmatism is stupid...

I think it is not possible for someone to be a centralist in terms of politics. Eventually, your opinions on a variety of issues will eventually be defined as left wing, right wing, authoritarian or libertarian.

well, you could in theory be in the center of two political ideologies. but what those two things are is important. most people that call themselves centrists don't seem to me to have a good grasp of what they are in the center of. and being in the exact middle of a test like the political compass seems to me to say that you would have to hold contradictory views.

I thought that centrist meant you think all sides of the political spectrum should be listened too.

Otherwise it seems stupid.

maybe. but do they really think that we should listen to stalinists and fascists?

Centrists are those that have certain views from all (or a lot of) political types.

I have my own political leanings that are spread out into all areas of the political spectrum. But the each offset each other and put me right smack in the center. I have never called myself a centrist even though I’m right in the center.

but without reference to what those views are, it means just about anything. a person who thought that all jews should be rounded up and killed and that the country should be run as a directly democratic federation of communities and workplaces would qualify as a centrist.

Although the majority of people would fall under the centrist category The centrists are a mixed bag of nuts. That is why there will never be any major centrist party. It’s much easier to appeal to one extreme or the other while keeping it relatively close to the center, but still distinctly on one extreme.

Yes. I myself am a centrist, but I have slightly right leaning policies. Therefore, I'd probably be a bigger supporter of Republicans than Democrats, despite my being in the center.

so you define your centrism as being between the democrats and republicans then, yes? but within the range of american politics, mainstream democrats are probably the closest thing to being centrists. and on a larger scale they are moderately right wing. see what i mean?

Can't remember who said it, it may have been Atlee or someone like that.
