Insomnia is kicking in so I decided to look at some Chick tracts, AND THERE ARE SOME NEW ONES!!

Birds and the Bees (http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/1052/1052_01.asp)"At a very young age, schoolchildren are being told that homosexuality is okay. Here is God’s view, carefully written for young readers"

Think of it as an alternative to "King & King" which raised so much controvasy a while back.

Unloved (http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/1018/1018_01.asp)"Rejected by his family, unemployed and with no one to turn to, Jimmy was ready for suicide. But then he met the One who truly loves him"

Also his interpretation of The Passion (http://www.chick.com/bc/2004/gibson.asp).

"Do you want to pray now?"

"Yes!"

*All three kids got saved.*

Well, there we have it - the objective, unquestionable resolution. I'm sure am glad that Jack Chick knows exactly who's going to Heaven!

It's little details like these that make these comics so special.

The second one wasn't too bad though, I liked the message in it (broadly), though it could have had a better ending, with the guy focussing on making sure others would not suffer like him.

If Chick isn't a hoax, and his tracts represent what he actually believes, then I find it hard to believe he's lasted this long without being locked up. I mean, his entire world view seems to be some kind of tripped-out, surrealist, conspiracy-mired satanic nightmare. It's so funny.

I've met people like that, which stops me thinking he is a hoaxer.

btw. He often critisizes other faiths for having extra-scriptural references. But he goes on about the "Book of Life," does anyone know if this is mentioned in the Bible. I'm not too hot on the Bible, so I honestly don't know. It is just I have never heard Christians talk about it.

It's basically where you get your name written when you become a christian, also known as the Lamb's book of Life.

The Book Of Life is the list of all those who will be 'saved' on judgement day and receive eternal life. It is a central tennant of the Christian theology, if not directly referred to frequently. References to it can be found in

Revelation 3:5 "He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

Revelation 20:12-15 "And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. "

Daniel 7:10 "A fiery stream issued and came forth from before him: thousand thousands ministered unto him, and ten thousand times ten thousand stood before him: the judgment was set, and the books were opened. "

Daniel 12:1-2 "And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt.

Exodus 32:32-33 "Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin--; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written. "

These are all from the KJV, by the way.

I love the picture Chick paints of God; an anonymous, faceless tyrant sitting on his giant throne, tossing people into a lake of fire. He really champions the argument for an all-loving benevolent God.

Jack Chick is my all-time favorite source of entertainment next to Penny-Arcade (they have more updates). The only downside to Chick's existence is that, on occasion, he has actually influenced somebody to the point of their BELIEVING HIM! I kid you not, more than one person on a message board (thankfully not this one) has told me that Chick was "right". >_<

But you've gotta admire his view of the other religions of the world. Apparently...

Buddhism preaches being miserly, hoarding one's money, and the fact that Siddartha Gautama considered himself a God.

Islam states that one can kill a nonbeliever on sight, and he also acts as though all Muslims are suicide bombers with beards.

Catholics are pure evil. (He might be right on this one... :D )

(Note: These are all obviously Chicktian [read: WRONG] views of the world, and I don't agree with him. Thus ends my disclaimer) I really don't like him, though, because he insulted my religion! (Hint: it's the first example of Chick's worldview)

Nono, you see, God does *everything* to show people His love for them, like writing some vague book, sending annoying little kids and things like that. It's not *His* fault some don't follow his guidelines.

Especially when they've got such wise and enlightened pedagogues as Jack Chick to show them the way... :D

Having looked at the site a bit (i have never heard of Chick), i can only assume that this guy is a biblical literalist. If this is the case he shhots himself in the foot by saying that the Koran is disproved by one scientific incosistency, yet also tells the story of Noah to be the total truth, even with a comic to show the discovery of an ark by the Russian Army (covered up by those pesky Commies). The ark was supposedly fit with "cages big enough for dinosaurs" - he shhots himself in the foot as an ark that would need to be larger than the Titanic, made of wood, would quite simply collapse into itself, there would be no chance of it even making it out of a dock. So by Chick's logic this one scietific impossibility found in the Bible must disprove the entire book, so he beleives a flawed faith!

Didn't Chick lay the legal smack down on that Cthulhu tract? I saw it a while back, but it's disappeared recently...

There are still some sites floating around where you can find it all. I decided to save the entire tract to my hard-drive, in case some of the other sites get the "legal" smackdown. A Google search (or AltaVista, or Lycos, whatever you want) should reveal where it still lingers.

well, he sent out a c&d letter that pretty much scared off the guy who made it.

you certainly can't find anything other a blank page here (http://esr.ibiblio.org/index.php?m=200312#135).
