And Bush was arrested for cocaine possession in the 70s and he also indirectly admitted to using it too when asked directly about past coke use. You know how you got offended when we discussed Bush "allowing" 9/11 to happen because your sister died in those attacks, well, I've lost both friends and family to HIV and AIDS and it offends me deeply when someone uses AIDS paranoia to justify and attack against someone and, while doing so, shows a complete lack of understanding of both the virus, how it affects people and the syndrom it causes.

Yes. You should have. I am more than prepared to believe that Bush may have used cocaine. There are a lot of people in this society that have, particularly when they were younger. I am not willing to make a logical leap that that fact alone makes them a bad person or explains any perceived loss of function that they may have without some sort of evidenciary link.

I think Bush's apparent "lack of understanding" can possibly be attributed to being completely out of touch with the majority of United States citizens. As you have pointed out, he has led a sheltered life and has never had to take responsibility for his mistakes (like a large number of people who have grown up wealthy). Consequently, it has never dawned on him that he might need to develop empathy for the experiences and situations of others and this, coupled with his handler's work to "protect" him from conditions and knowledge that may challenge the view they would like to put forth has given him a false assurance that he is acting in everyone's best interests simply because he's the one doing it. Any additional inconsistencies in his behavior and comprehension are completely attributable to long-term alcohol abuse, which he has acknowledged.
