Come to the Midwest Anarchist Bookfair!

“Deep down our needs are simple: apart from food, shelter, and clothing there are needs to love and be loved, for community, to be open to the world at large and for it to be open to us, to affect and to be affected, to understand and to be understood, to hear and be heard, to accept and be accepted.”

*Derrick Jensen, “Language Older than Words”

Tired of always reacting to the bad stuff? Ready to help create the world you want to see? Our hope springs from our community our relationships with the world and ourselves. Only together can we see through the mass western hysteria to a world where ALL share food, skills, ideas and dreams!

We invite you to join us in Madison, Wisconsin May 7-9 for a book fair and gathering, very much in the spirit of Chicago's Matches and Mayhem. A space for us to come together, discuss our cynicism and overcome that which drags us down.

We'll gather to share literature, hold workshops/discussions, and build praxis in a convergence of not only people, but of ideas. On the agenda: skillshares, variety show, music, soccer matches, bike jousting, more games, possible networking discussion, and - of course - the book fair.

We're openly soliciting volunteers to facilitate discussions, skillshares, workshops, and games. Please contribute your ideas and resources to help us make this a triumphant eclectic event. Register for housing, a lit table at the bookfair, more information, or other contributions you or the organization you work with would like to make on the form below.

If our rhetoric sounds a bit cheesy, keep in mind we are from Wisconsin!

With much love,

Madison Anarchists

Nice.
One of the guys who holds the same fellowship I do was teaching in Madison with his wife. I almost applied for a fellowship at UW Madison, but decided that 4 years of Arkansas winter was too much for me and that Wisconsin winters would leave me a bitter, broken shell of a man.

So, pray tell, what was it that made you into a bitter, broken shell of a man if not the Wisconsin winters? ;)

Wonderful :)If only we had had a house to bicker over. When we got divorced, we divided up our bills, agreed on visitation and child support for our daughter, and have worked out any other issues as they've arisen. It really has been the easiest possible divorce, as far as I know.

and now back to your regularly scheduled promo of the madison anarchist bookfair. yours truly will be there on saturday. books, anarchists, and me; what more could you ask for?
03-05-2004, 23:39
A plane ticket maybe?

I shall have to wait til the London bookfair in October. I'll be sure to plug it when the time comes-- even if you are not anarchist (and I'm not an anarchist) they offer a good opportunity to debate with people and look at interesting material and, yadda yadda yadda.

we all took up soccer (http://www.passionbomb.com/soccer/index.php). my friend andrew was part of a more recent anarchist bowling league - though i don't think they actually went bowling all that often.

aww, surely there are some more radical wisconsinites (or chicagoans hiding out in wisconsin like myself) around here.

i mean come on, here a state who's biggest city had a socialist mayor from 1948-1960. and that wasn't even their longest serving socialist mayor.
