More Remorse

Hello, hello...as the S.S. Kerry continues to sink, ever so slowly, the scene reminds me, not of the R.M.S. Titanic, but more of the Keystone Kops. Here's a good example...not from a U.S. conservative publication, but from the United Kingdom.

- Tony Allen-Mills, writing in the London Times (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2089-1094909,00.html), chronicles the latest chapter in the implosion, and the ever more visible buyer's remorse being felt by Democratic leaders and activists. (Note: Site requires registration. Telegram me for a copy of the article if you're interested.)

- A little extra credit reading for today. Ernest Lefever, writing in the Washington Times (http://www.washingtontimes.com/commentary/20040501-105522-3937r.htm), puts John Kerry's life since his return from Vietnam under a microscope, and questions why Kerry has been allowed to get away with so many lies, especially about what he claimed to have witnessed in Vietnam.

- A little more on Kerry's "common man" claims. First, a little ditty about the sizable vehicle fleet he owns (http://www.newsmax.com/archives/ic/2004/4/30/112630.shtml)...no, wait, he says his family, and not he, owns the fleet...including several foreign cars (didn't he say he wanted all Americans to buy US-made cars?) and gas-guzzling SUVs (didn't he talk recently about wanting people to buy more economical cars?) Then, how many "common man" types own their own island? A liberal reporter on the Boston Herald (http://news.bostonherald.com/localRegional/view.bg?articleid=12608) expounds on this theme.

- Regarding the Bush-Cheney testimony to the 9-11 Commission, details have already leaked out. You will be (or maybe not) surprised at what's come out (http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1101040510-632009,00.html).

- Finally, I have been debating whether to post this one or not. I am posting it, but I claim no responsibility for it...you see, even I can act like Jean Francois Kerry at times. In fact, I would kindly suggest that if you're a Kerry supporter, you avoid this one. Anyway, here it is (http://www.spectator.org/dsp_article.asp?art_id=6508).

Yup, keep copy/pasting all those articles you don't read written by the ultra right-wing.. I know that *I* personally just can't get enough of that fabulous biased and not even close to objective view. !!!

P.S. I'm still waiting for you to explain the failure of liberalism though.. ;)

Wow--that last article you posted was hilarious, Panny. Is the America Spectator so bad off that they actually let people write for them anonymously, or is there really a guy named "Enemy Central"?

Let me say this much for the article--if the quote below is indicative of the rhetoric you and yours plan on using throughout the summer, then we will have indeed sunk to a new low in garbage politics.

Yes, we're talking about the flurry of gleeful concern that Mr. Kerry may be ousted by Democrats before his name is put in nomination at this summer's Boston convention. In happier times, such as the Clinton epoch, rightists would wait until their target was elected and fully ensconced in the Oval Orifice before divining ways to have him ousted and dragged through the streets of America's capital city. Now they're even more ravenous, smelling blood before it's even been pumped through a Democratic brave heart. When they're through with Mr. K., he'll be an exile in remotest France, or even more fashionably, an honorary resident of the tony resort isle of St. Helena, where no one minds if you're French-looking.

Wow.

the American Spectator is owned by a moldy old maggot eaten cadaver named Richard Scaife who was the mastermind of the rightwing conspiracy against the Clintons and hes the granddaddy of the politics of personal destruction

They probably wish it was credible. When ever you hear sexual comments be they obvious or enuendo; they tend to come from conservative/Christians.

They have this view that sex is not supposed to ever happen in the Oval office. Never mind the fact that several Presidents have had affairs and what not. That was the only thing they could nail ol' slick willy and they keep bringing it up.

Ahhh journalistic endeavours of the worst kind?

According to sources, Bush said Clinton "probably mentioned" terrorism as a national-security threat "but did not make it a point of emphasis." Clinton earlier told the panel that he had ranked bin Laden as the No. 1 problem the new Administration would face; he made the same point in a speech in New York City last October.

"According to sources" What sources? The washroom janitor?

Bush said Clinton "probably mentioned" terrorism as a national-security threat "but did not make it a point of emphasis."

You mean that Bush can't remember if terrorism was mentioned? And if it was mentioned, you would think that Bush would want to know a great deal more about "terrorism", or the threat thereof?

Even when Bush is given information on terrorist activities, he dropped the ball?

By the time a CIA briefer gave President Bush the Aug. 6, 2001, President's Daily Brief headlined "Bin Ladin Determined To Strike in US," the president had seen a stream of alarming reports on al Qaeda's intentions.

It just occurred to me--does anyone have a quote where John Kerry has ever claimed to be a "common man" himself? I've heard him say that he understands the plight of the working class and wants to help them out, but I've never heard him refer to himself as one of them. I could be wrong, mind you, but I get the feeling this may be another one of those "Gore invented the internet" things, you know, where everyone claims that Kerry said it, but he didn't really.

Can one of you conservative enablers come up with a link to a quote where Kerry claimed to be a "common man?"

Edit--and from a credible source. I think we've shown sufficiently that the American Spectator and News Max are not credible sources.
