Which would you rather have, abortion of gay marriage? These are the 2 hot topics and in order for both sides to get at least something they want perhaps only one should be compleatly legalised, at least for now.

Why not both?

Because both of these are fiercly debated. I figure if people could say we will allow one in exchange for the other at least some progress will be made.

Legalizing just one wouldn't make both sides happy; it would make both sides unhappy. One the one side, liberals would be upset that both weren't legalized. On the other side, conservatives would be upset that even one was legalized.

And, for the record, abortion is already legal. So I'd vote to make gay marriage legal as well.

Yeah good point. To stop all of the bills trying to restrict it I guess would be better.

On your other point, I just hope people can share.

I personally find abortions morally reprehensible, but I don't think it's anyone's business what a woman does with her own body but her business. On the other hand, I have no problem with gay marriage. So, while I'd like to see both legal, I do have a slight problem with abortion, while I have no problem with gay marriage. So I vote for gay marriage.

I'd rather have gay marriage - it's not our gov't decision to decide who gets married to who, no matter how much we dislike it

And you would be happier if it was legalised, right?

And the right would be happier if abortion could be restricted, right?

And then we can be one big disfunctional family. A few years later, divorce.

Those are only hot issues because the Republican party wants to use those issues to manipulate evangelical Christians to get their votes, but Republican leaders have no intention of doing anything about either issue.

Although, over 1 million people marched in DC last week in favor of Women's rights, including abortion. It sounds like women want to have the freedom to make up their own minds.

I'd be happiest if both were legal. I don't think it's my business whether women I don't know have an abortion. I'm just saying in this context, being forced to choose, I'd choose gay marriage over abortion.

Yes, but since the republican party wont ever give up both and the democratic party can't abandon the position they will forever be calling eachotehr evil and such, unless they can come to an agreement about it.

There are some issues that can't be an either/or decision. Abortion deals with a woman's ability to control her own medical choices, so it's a matter of individual rights. Same-sex marriage deals with the rights of every citizen to be treated equally before the law. There's really not much wiggle room in either case as far as I can tell, and I'm certainly no fan of abortion, so as a result, I couldn't make a call between the two options.

You can have both, but only in the correct order as they tend to be mutually exclusive.

I have nothing against either of them.

Also, I was going to put as the question what do you want more but, in view of people who are against both I changed it. People who are more Pro-Life can vote gay marriage.

Yes they are not really related and thus you can look at them seperatly. With all the threads on anti- abortion and gay marriage no one can agree on it. Perhaps though, people are more against or more for one, then that can be addressed now and leave the other one for future times.
