Caveat Emptor - Part II

Well, stories keep coming up about the Libs suffering from buyer's regret, regarding their presumptive nominee, Jean Francois Kerry. For example,

- The Hill (http://thehill.com/news/042904/democrats.aspx), which bills itself as the newspaper for and about Congress, reports that the House Liberal Caucus blasted the Kerry campaign chairwoman at a recent meeting. Their complaint centers about Kerry's failure to respond (oh, he's responded, just not very effectively) to the Bush campaign.

- Of course, earlier this week, I discussed the recent article by James Ridgway on the Village Voice, urging the "leadership" of the Democratic Party to get rid of Kerry. So, here's Cal Thomas (http://www.townhall.com/columnists/calthomas/ct20040428.shtml), analyzing the column a lot further than I would (since he gets paid to do that.)

- John Podhoretz (http://www.nypost.com/postopinion/opedcolumnists/23296.htm[/url), in the New York Post, dissects Kerry's ongoing implosion, and the summary isKerry is a terrible, terrible, terrible candidate. I agree...but you knew that already.

- An honest question for all of you Kerry supporters...oops, make that all you Libs...what exactly is Kerry's reason for running for President? Tony Blankley (http://www.townhall.com/columnists/tonyblankley/tb20040428.shtml) can't figure it out, either.

- Mark Steyn (http://www.suntimes.com/output/steyn/cst-edt-steyn25.html) examines why Jean Francois Kerry is destined to join Al Gore and Ann Richards in the list of those who have lost elections to George W. Bush.

Finally, in an exclusive scoop, courtesy of the Neal Boortz (http://boortz.com) website, we present to you (cue up the fanfare tape, please) the Program for the 2004 Democratic Party Convention, to be held in Boston.

This is shit, even by your meager standards, Panhandlia.

And just out of curiosity, if Kerry sucks so badly, why is it that Bush has dropped $60 million in ad dollars in the last 6 weeks in battleground states compared to Kerry's $12 million and has only been able to hang with a tie? What would have happened if Bush hadn't spent that money? Where would he be--35% right now?

I'll tell you about an interesting poll I saw just yesterday. When Americans were asked if the US was doing a good job in Iraq, the positives were around 62%. Good news for Bush, right? Same poll asked if Bush was doing a good job on Iraq. Result? 47% said yes. People are starting to create a divide between Bush and the country as a whole, and that's not good for an incumbent.

But as I've said many times before, this is April and the election is in November and anything can happen between now and then, so I don't worry about polls and I don't get too excited about them either.

As you noticed (you did notice, did you?) I gave credit to whom credit was due. However, with the latest antics of Baghdad Jim McDermott (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,118481,00.html), it's hard to rule it out. And you know Chappaquiddick Ted will be in full drunken glory.

Lovely language, as usual, Incer. But what else could we expect from a lib? As for the ad campaign, now that Jean Francois Kerry is the only "serious" candidate left in the Left, he is a valid target, and his record, both after Vietnam and while in the Senate, is a valid point to ponder. Add to his problems that challenge he now surely regrets issuing ("Bring it on"), and having McAuliffe have to come to his defense (kinda like when you needed your big brother to defend you in the playground), and the brouhaha about whose medals (or ribbons) he threw away, and the $60 million campaign is just for good measure.

Oh yeah, how is it that, after weeks of bad news from Fallujah, Bush is tied or ahead of Kerry in all polls? But, hey, polls don't matter at this point. What matters is, there are 6 more months of campaign, and key Democrats are starting to question the wisdom of making Kerry their candidate. If he makes it past the convention, August, September and October will be very long months for the Kerry campaign...and Bush will be sworn in for his second term on January 20th, 2005.

And yes, Kerry is the worst candidate the Libs could have picked.

Let me elucidate on a couple of points that Panhandlia neglected to mention while defaming Representative McDermott.

1. McDermott exercised his right to free speech by not including the words "under God" while leading the House in the Pledge. He didn't interfere with anyone who wanted to say those words--in fact, he paused while every other member in the House who was saying the pledge said those words and then he completed his service. If anything, McDermott showed great consideration for the feelings of his fellow congresspeople by not interfering with the way they chose to recite the Pledge of Allegiance.

2. The Democratic leadership didn't back him up on this. They certainly didn't plan it and Nancy Pelosi, according to the news report Panhandlia linked to said she called McDermott in for a chat on his decision to omit the two words.

"I completely disagree with Congressman McDermott's presentation of the pledge to the flag ... House Democrats expect the pledge to be delivered as it is written, with under God, and with respect for the pledge," Pelosi said.

Every time you get busted on a story like this, Panhandlia, your credibility goes that much farther down the toilet.

The beauty of it is, the Libs can't actually argue against it, since it pretty much contains their "hot button" issues, all in one!

It might help you to read the law...not that the law ever stopped a liberal...BY LAW, you are required to say the words "Under God" if you are saying the Pledge...and BY LAW, you are required to place your right hand on your heart if you're saying the Pledge. He wanted to exercise his free speech right? Fine, refuse to say the whole Pledge and no one would have noticed...but thanks to his grandstanding, the GOP has yet one more issue to run on. Thanks, Baghdad Jim!

As for Nancy Pelosi, four words describe her reaction..."too little, too late." She is supposed to be the leader of that ragtag band. A slap in the hand after he did it amounts to nothing.

Simple...I am a working man...this is a pastime for me...if I want to get into heated debates, I go to work (then I also get paid for it!) No, I see my job here to be the annoyance of liberals. It's a shame my partner-in-crime Raysia got deleted, though Salishe et al do make suitable substitutions. My one failure so far, was to fail to check the source of a column I was emailed (my contributor failed to include the source and a link,) but I did own up to the error. That Incertonia feels the need to respond to my posts tells me I am doing something right.
