this is a little different than what's usually discussed here, but here goes:
i'm on the birth control pill and i took it last night as usual and about two hours later, i threw up (i ate something that didn't agree with me) does anyone know if i have to take another to replace that one or if it should have been absorbed and the like by then?

I think that it would have been digested

shouldn't you ask your doctor?

I can't think of anything that small, supposedly digestable, that survives for two hours. I mean, it feels like

chinese food: 30 minutes
pasta: 45 minutes
huge fat pizza: 90 minutes

One tiny pill? In combination with huge fat pizza, you might have a problem. On empty stomache? You're probably safe.

well, my stomach wasn't entirely empty...

i'm not big on harassing doctors for no reason, aside from that, the doctor i see for this stuff is a long distance phone call away (i see them when i'm at school) and that would probably take a while to get through to talk to them at prime time for long distance charges...

in England there's special centres you can go to and free helplines you can ring but i don't think you have them in america so i don't know

i'm in canada... i'm not sure if there are helplines for birthcontrol here... seems like a good idea though, rather than having to call a doctor's office at busy times when they're likely busy doing other things...

Simply call the public health nurse. There are plenty of them in every province. I'm in Ontario. So, I know. If you're in Ontario there is also Tele-health that you can phone, all paid for by the government.. public health nurse and Tele-health are free services.

Do not take another one to replace it, then you won't have your full month left. If you're worried about it, just be extra careful for a few days to use some other type of protection along with it.

The importance also depends on what week you are in now. If you read the packet that comes with the pills, it will explain which ones are most important.

Either way, it was most likely digested anyways and you probably don't need to worry at all.

i was on the pill for five years. you need a minimum of two hours to digest it. if you throw up within two hours, you should refrain from unprotected intercourse for seven days and keep taking the pills over those seven days. read the info in your pack it should give you more information. hope this is helpful take care xx

New Kats is right. If you throw up then there's a risk it wasn't absorbed. Use condoms for the next 7 days if you have sex.

Good luck!
