A famous quote from an equally famous philosopher, it is almost never quoted in its entirety. The full quote:
"God is dead (then the part that people almost always leave out) for we have killed him."
Friedrich Nietzsche is not insulting God, he's not saying he's superior to God or that God is a failed and pointless belief, he's saying that humanity has killed the belief.
People say things about Nietzsche with almost no basis, taking partial quotes and misinterpreted teachings then forming ludicrous ideas about his life and thoughts. Before you say something about this man (or anyone else for that matter) get your facts straight.
Oh, yeah. Funny as hell T-shirt in response to the partially quoted phrase:
"Nietzsche is dead"
-God
EDIT: Forgot to add the disclaimer:
I am in no way advocating the teachings of Friedrich Nietzsche, this includes his belief in the Superman and the belief that the comman man should be enslaved by said Supermen. I am just stating that facts should be straight.
