This is not just about angry discussions over who should win, I also want to see who people are going to vote for in the elections.

Yeah, but you know that that's what it's going to degenerate into.

To bad the whole world couldn't vote in the American election, I mean we should be able to give that Bush's foreign policy seems to be affecting the world and not just Americans.. Just think, if the world could vote that would make Bush nothing but a footnote... He would be slaughtered in the election. To bad what is right never seems to happen.. *Sigh* :?

That's kind of the point of foriegn policy, Steph. It has to, by definition, affect the rest of the world somewhat.

Oh, I realize that Sdaeriji, it's just that foreign policy doesn't have to force it's will onto the rest of the world either the way the Bush's administration have. It's too bad that the American public can't see objectively what it's doing to their image and the once earned respect they had.. that seems to be less and less every day..

I think Pauline Neville Jones a senior civil servant in the British Foreign Office said it best;

"It sent a shiver down my back. I just said to myself, no country, however powerful, can operate on the world in this way by itself and hope to have friends and ultimately succeed."

Few problems with this poll

-People who aren;t registered U.S. voters will be voting...against Bush naturally
-This forum is riddled with liberals, destroying the realism
-This is the 8th topic doing this
-We do not know the Vice-Presidents

I was thinking it wasn't a good one because the people who arent even Americans would be voting.

This is not just about angry discussions over who should win, I also want to see who people are going to vote for in the elections.

I wonder what result we'd get if we'd limit the poll to those who can/will actually be voting. Not that anyone would actually restrain themselves, but it'd be interesting in theory.

You'd probably get the 50/50 mix that all the major polls are showing right now.

I understand what you're saying, but if the rest of the world voted in our elections it would be a tacit concete that the US does indeed rule the world. No matter what goods we produce, if we become to hard to deal with the rest of the world will go elsewhere. You can see some of the rhetoric, 'where else in the world can you yadda yadda,' there is a blind spot to the notion that other nations offer many of the same things we do and aren't such a f'n hassle. When that happens, we'll implode since we're built on sucking on the marrow.

We need to acknowledge that we live in a world community and we can only get away with pissing in peoples yards for so long...

Well perhaps the other main powers in the world should have a say in foreign policy that any country makes that would allow them to make a decision that would allow them to move unilaterally against another nation in the world.. Oh right, we do it's called the UN security council.. but the Americans have decided they're irrelevant.. unless they need their help that is..

If you're in the film industry you're not going to find a better place then the USA... The Americans do know how to make a movie, but if the FCC keeps going the way it is, you'll all be arrested for any thing they don't like. Hard call.

When have the Americans decided that the U.N. security council is irrelavent?

When they decide to move unilaterally against nations without security council approval because they know it will get VETO'd.. or.. when they say it 100 times a day on American news when they interview American politicians..
