In an era of sports where a player will hold a team and an entire city of fans hostage, people like Pat Tillman, who surrendered millions of dollars a year to serve his country, are a breath of fresh air.

Comments would be appreciated.

I'd rather honor the soldiers dying daily who are mostly poor, lower/middle class than some overpaid sportstar.

Not this one.

He paid with the highest coin.

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Pat Tillman walked away from millions in the NFL to fight for his country in Afghanistan.

He paid with his life.

I do think that what Mr. Tillman did was noble, in its own right. But was it any more noble than all of the other soldiers who have given up their money, careers and even lives to serve our country in this conflict? I don't mea to belittle what Tillman did by any means, but we really have to ask ourselves why he is getting so much attention when over 100 other soldiers that have died in this war have barely gotten a few seconds mention on the nightly news.

It wasn't more noble... it's just that Tillman didn't deserve those two comments above mine.

I honor all who fall in the service of my country.

Angry Cambodians is exactly right. I'm sorry for Tillman's death, but hundreds of other soldiers have died also that probably don't get much of a second thought. But Tillman will because he's a rich sports star. Frankly, I think it's sad and insulting to the memory of the other dead soldiers.

Tillman didn't join up for the publicity or the fame. He has turned down interviews and his family haven't spoken to the media about his enlistment. He did what he thought was the right thing to do - and he died for that cause. Respect him and all other soldiers.

It is so sad. How many more people must die!? I have a few friends in Iraq right now, and i can only hope that they are okay.

The press has lionized a poor white girl from West Virginia, a Hispanic who immigrated to America and enlisted, and the rich white football player. All we need now is an African-American, a Native American, an Asian, a Jew, and a Muslim. Our soldiers are dying every day now, it seems, so I think we will see that the military is truly an equal opportunity employer, and our enemy is an equal opportunity destroyer. ~ Michael.

But he's no more special than any other solder in the American Army. If Bill Gates goes enlists in the Marines, he doesn't deserve any more attention than the kid from the projects who enlists.

I feel bad for all of the dead servicemen, but Pat Tillman doesn't deserve any more attention than any other serviceman who died. He's no more of a real hero than any other soldier.

However, if I died, fighting for my country, I would feel honored just to have my name mentioned on the KIA list.

True...which is why I feel Tillman has had enough publicity. If he gets this much media coverage, than every single 700 man ,women, and young adult who died in Iraq in uniform deserve as much.

Why do you feel that way, Jim?If I may offer up an answer to this question. There are a lot better people, that the youth and the adults, should hold as mentors, motivators, and heros.

You see, it's great to see a rich sports star give up his comfortable lifestyle to go and live in a tent some place in Afghanistan. I respect him for his decision, don't get me wrong. However, he isn't anymore special than anyone else in the armed forces.

I know that if I was to die in Iraq or Afghanistan, I'd be a number on CNN and I'd get my picture shown for two seconds on the local news. Why does he get a three minute news story shown on every news station in America and three pages in all of the major newspapers? It's just not fair to every other service man who's died. I'm sure that some famlies of those killed in action are feeling very resentful right now. I could guarantee that.
