Ariel Sharon quote from 1956

24-04-2004, 00:30
Quote by Ariel Sharon in 1956

"I don't know something called International Principles. I vow that I'll
burn every Palestinian child (that) will be born in this area. The
Palestinian woman and child is more dangerous than the man, because the
Palestinian childs existence infers that generations will go on, but the
man causes limited danger. I vow that if I was just an Israeli civilian
and I met a Palestinian I would burn him and I would make him suffer
before killing him. With one hit I've killed 750 Palestinians (in Rafah
in 1956). I wanted to encourage my soldiers by raping Arabic girls as
the Palestinian women is a slave for Jews, and we do whatever we want to
her and nobody tells us what we shall do but we tell others what they
shall do."

[Ariel Sharon, current Prime Minister, In an interview with General Ouze
Merham, 1956]

As a Israeli General he walked his troops into a Palestinian Refugee camp and shot every single man, woman and child.

IE: Anyone who doesn't hate Sharon is not forward-thinking and not committed to peace in the Middle East. Nice circular logic.
Wow, Red Arrow, you're really reaching, even by your less-than-stellar standards. An unattributed (source-wise) quote purportedly from 48 years ago. Now you're just plain sad.

I wouldn't want to steal Red Arrow's thunder, but, I'll inform you ahead of time. It came from his ass. It was festering there, waiting for a moment when the Israeli strategy started to work before it could emerge. I also suspect similar origins for Red Arrow himself.

Sharon's involvement in mass executions of civilians during his military career is quite well-documented. I have even seen a Newsnight interview with a former soldier involved in those actions, who praised Sharon for his inspirational leadership, and expressed no remorse for the actions they committed.

In all fairness I'm not sure of the quote given by TRA..but Sharon was a firebrand in his early career...he had been in charge of an elite IDF unit which does have a "checkered" history....reports of torture on Palestinian militants..and atrocities in Arab villages...but one must also take into account...he'd seen his new nation invaded in 48...surrounded by enemies on all sides.. and then Nasser leading up to the war of 56 (?)..

Just because you can IMAGINE someone saying it doesn't change the fact that you started a thread based on a bullshit quote without checking it out first. So any "conclusions" you may have been trying to draw from that quote are now void.

Well...I'm pretty sure he had them at one point..and I've not read the documentation that he destroyed them yet..the fact that he had those missiles which we found...the chemical shells we found...the nuclear program documentation we found buried..and the mobile labs (yes I know they were scrubbed clean so there is no clear connection but he wasn't using them for developing a baby formula)....the fact that we found 6000 chemical warfare suits in a hospital soon after entered Iraq...you see Steph...it's not that I don't believe the anti-war crowd on the WoMD issue, it's just that there are too many little things out there to totally convince me that there are not buried depots full of stuff.

indeed. fairly safe to say it is either made up completely or falsified in some other way. which is silly, because i'm sure there are actually documented quotes from sharon that are at least almost as bad.

but as a general rule if i had an unsourced internet claim and the only site disputing it was frontpage, i would tend to go with the unsourced internet claim - i've seen enough of frontpage's 'reporting' get it wrong on things i do know the facts about.
