Saint Georges Day

Just realised its St Georges Day! Patron Saint of England!

To confuse the issue, I live in Scotland, come from a Scottish family and have the most Scottish name you can imagine and yet I was born in England and consider myself British First and English Second.

By English Second I mean that I would always support the British team until it comes to something like Wales vs England at rugby and then I support England. Wales versus anyone else and I support wales.

Anyway, back to the thread. What country do you guys come from and what is your countrys patron saint, either real or NS state?

Just decided that the Patron Saint of Jeem is Saint Bob the Confused!

My local pub does a St. Georges day sausage and mash dinner (and lots of beer)...

My country's got 8 :P or 1, the web isn't giving me very good info. It's either the eight jesuit martyrs, or St John the Baptist, or St Joseph. I'm not Catholic so I don't really know.

Shouldn't the be St Robert the Befuddled? :D

 Sure!

Interestingly, St. George is not just the patron saint of England. Amongst the other things that he patronises are syphilis, palestine, butchers and skin diseases...

Yes I like that, St Robert the Befuddled! Well done that man.

Might cause a schism in the church, a few holy wars and thousands of dead with the two factions, the Bobites versus the Robertines, but what the hell, St Robert it is.

Thank you.

Not easy being a Saint in the early days, obviously. Poor old St Robert the Befuddled was killed by the cannibals of southern Jeem for making the mistake of passing the salt and pepper the wrong way round the table. The correct way is to pass it to the left obviously! :D

How come he became a Saint?

Because he was preaching to those same cannibals at the time. They were all converted alright it was just the bit in the bible when Jesus mentions eat of his flesh and drink of his blood that got them confused and they got carried away.
