Well considering man has smoked or eat just about everything to get that "spiritual high" there is not much you can do to stop it.

Drug imbibing is as old as man. ;)

If you fear drugs but are interested in hallucinating or seeing visions, try holding your breath for two minutes, fasting only on water and vitamisn for three days, and/or Zen meditation.

my friend OD on drugs. i was her only friend and the only one besides her parents and the pastor that showed up at her funeral. by the time she realized how bad what she was doing to herself really was, it was too late.

Been there done that.

A girl friend OD'd but her parents got her to the hospital in time.

When she got out and was feeling "better" we broke up. I had to escape the self destruction.

I later found out she cleaned up and is happily married with a kid.

So not everybody is lost when they go that route.

meh, drug use hasn't kept me from graduating as valedictorian, tripple majoring at university, and being accepted to a graduate program in neuroscience. i've had bad experiences with drugs, sure, but i've also had bad experiences with Chinese food. either one is dangerous if not consumed in a responsible manner...and only idiots need to be afraid of either one.

Drugs are for people who are too afraid of actually pulling a trigger and killing themselves instantly.

Hardly!

I knew a guy whose brain power could not be measured. He was stoned all through high school as it was the only way he could relate to we lessor beings.

He finished with a 4.0 and disappeared to MIT.....

Kentucky Fried Chicken Protests in India
The Government of India raised permitted levels of the flavour enhancer monosodium glutamate (MSG) in December 1995. The decision came after a Bangalore court closed a Kentucky Fried Chicken outlet because it's food exceeded the legal limits for the additve. Used in a wide range of fast foods, MSG is associated with behavioural disorders, such as hyperactivity, and has induced severe brain damage in rats. Unborn children are at particular risk since MSG concentrates in the placenta.

The Government fears that the Bangalore court's decision will deter further investment in India by foreign-owned food processing companies and fast food chains such as McDonald's, which plans to open the first of 60 outlets in 1996.

A broad-based campaign has developed against Kentucky Fried Chicken comprising health activists opposed to the entry of "junk food chains" into India, farmers' groups and animal rights' groups opposed to factory farming, environmental groups, and thoseopposed to the entry of TNC's in India's food sector. The campaign pressured the Delhi government to close KFC's first outlet in the capital.

Citizen's groups plan to contest the decision to raise permitted levels of MSG and continue to protest on other grounds as well.

Buckets of fried chicken bring down political party
Simon Apiku Middle East Times staff

A coup d'état led by Abdel Rashid Ahmed, a renegade member of the Social Justice Party, appears to have failed to achieve its goal of unseating Mohammed Abdel Aal, the incumbent leader. Instead, it left the party more fragmented than ever and provoked a war of words between the two opposing camps who are each vying to take control of what is left of the party.

The crisis came to a head on 15 April when Ahmed called for a conference of the party at the Kemet hotel, north of Cairo. During the conference, Ahmed announced that Aal had been removed from the leadership of the party. The participants agreed to revoke Aal's membership.

After the meeting, Ahmed and his supporters, convinced that they had toppled Aal, stormed to the Shura Council, seat of the political parties' committee, to present their case against Aal.

Aal accuses Ahmed of attempting to form a new political party that he hopes to call the "Democratic Salvation Party," a charge immediately dispelled by Ahmed.

"Moreover, all those who elected Ahmed as head of the rival party were picked off the streets from among drivers and craftsmen," said Aal in his memorandum.

for Ahmed," explained Gamal. "They were given E£40 if they joined the march to the Shura Council," she added.

Aal's Al Watan Al Arabi on 21 April reported that a voter was pulled from the Kemet disco and asked to vote for Ahmed for a few pounds.

[b]Aal's supporters claim that a meat packer they had previously attacked in their paper was funding the 'finger-lickin' rebels.

"We discovered that meat baron, Tahir Berberi has now formed an alliance with the opposition to launch a counter-campaign against us," Aal's paper reported.

Political analysts anticipate, however, that if the mudslinging continues both camps are likely to lose out as the party could be put under judicial sequestration and led by a group of court-appointed custodians that will most likely not come from the party.

Founded in 1993 by Aal, the Social Justice Party is Egypt's newest political party. Their failure could now make it more difficult for new parties to form.
