Kim Jong-Il passed some nine hours through that station nine hours before that happened.

Secondly, no one knows if there is actually 3,000 dead or not.

Thirdly, how is an innocent accident a cause for rebellion against the government? Does this mean if an accident like this happened in my country, Canada, I can rise up against the government?!

Yes, according to the BBC, a freight train carrying petrol/diesel fuel and another carrying LNG collided outside a train station, causing the mother of all volume explosions. Kinda like the accident in Iran a while ago, which flattened a whole district of the town in which it took place. They showed a rather grainy satellite photo of the area, and there's a massive smoke cloud towering over it. Just like in Iran, I can easily imagine several hundred dead. Not sure about 3,000 - the whole area would have had to have been packed with people for it to be that bad. But who knows?

I doubt this will change the status quo much though. The state of technology there is such, massive industrial accidents must be routine.

And apparently, NK cut all international phone lines to keep the news from getting out

We'll know more once we get those satellite images in a day or so.

MAN! I love our American Space technology!

i couldn't find out many details. NK doesn't really like the US so they won't give us a lot of info.

From the articles I've read, the North Korean train system is monumentally bad. Trains break down for hours, stranding tons of people at the stations. Its entirely possible that this collision went off at a very bad time when the station was packed with people, due to rush hour, train break downs, or whatever. And notice the articles claim 3,000 casualties, which doesn't necessarily mean 3,000 dead. Causualties are people who have been hurt or killed; if this went off in a tightly packed town we could easily get a number this large.

Ignorance breeds mishaps. Perhaps someone should've been checking for these things to prevent them from happening. Oh well, that's what happens when you focus on nuclear development as opposed to transportation in the national goverment.
