What is everyone's opinion of the drama surrounding Maurice Clarett? Should he be allowed to play?

Yeah--the NFL wants to keep the rule in place because they get the equivalent of a free minor league system out of it, but I figure that anyone who's of legal age ought to be able to work in his field if he can fire someone to hire him.

That said, even if Clarett eventually wins his case, you won't have happen in the NFL what's happened to the NBA--in the vast majority of cases, football players need those years from 18-22 to finish growing and bulking up and with limited roster sizes and salary cap considerations, teams are going to be wary to drop a lot of cash on a kid who will sit for 3 years.

I think the NFL,like any other employers, should be able to decide who is fit and qualified to work for it's members. I'm not in the Nfl draft, do I have grounds for a lawsuit?

Ironically, Clarrett is a 3rd round pick at best. Mike Williams is the one who will make the real difference in the draft.

I think that at 18, you are legally and adult, so you should be able to declare yourself eligable.

This doesn't mean you have to be drafted. I doubt any team will choose an 18 year old QB who is still growing. You won't see a huge wave of kids going from high school straight to the pros. You might see one or two try it and then bomb miserably.

The owners don't want to sink first rounf pick kind of money into someone who asn't been on TV yet.
