For anyone who does not know this is an article on this issue, just so you can gather some background information: -

Trail of Lies (http://www.theage.com.au/articles/2004/04/20/1082395850393.html)

I just wanted to know peoples opinions on the events surrounding Shell

and whether or not Shell deserved to be stripped of its triple A rating.

What should happen to the people who were involved with the lies?

Should the Shareholders be able to demand compensation?

What may happen to Shell in the future?

Share Growth, comparison to BP and FTSE 100 (http://www.shell.com/home/Framework?siteId=investor-en&FC2=/investor-en/html/iwgen/leftnavs/zzz_lhn7_3_0.html&FC3=/investor-en/html/appgen/shareprice/shel_1year_BP_FTSE100.html)

Shell is peanuts. OPEC's reserve inflation is publicly documented fact. Anyone can Google the statistics. Their lies would swallow Shell's a hundred times over. This is only the first of many scandals to come.

Ah, here we are. Note how the scale of the revisions is close to 300bn barrels, most in just 3 years. Here too, phantom accounting not reflected in reality.

There is also a nice article at http://www.wri.org/climate/jm_oil_000.html, and lots of information if you search using the string 'opec "reserve revisions"'.
