Friendism: my philosophy
I have a philosophy it's called Friendism and I made it up right now. I am not on drugs, and I am not crazy here it is.
If we just put aside our differences, political, social, etc. maybe we can get along. think of it if we just forgot about that and started to help each other out. There could be whole communities built of "friends" that have learned to love each other because they don't care about each other, just the group. I know sounds communistic, but imagine, once everyone is friends they can be themselves and still help the group.
Sounds stupid and simpler than it is, but hey who said it was easy?

I was just joking anyway. This perfect world will not exist as long as humans are humans, greedy and imperfect. If it worked, I would take it, but now, the only way it works is if you are chemically imbalanced.

We where never ment to gather in groups this large, society really just tries to minamize the damage.
Now, I'm not saying the idea is bad, or won't work because humans are bastards. We have to believe that in order to support a system that feeds off itself.
Rather, a optomistic rebuttle to an optomistic plan. Religion and political leqanings and related material, the things you subscribe we put away for regard for the greater good are really just divisions between the differing ideas about what is for the greater good. I call this optomistic because I believe all the people in those various camps on some level want whats best, just can't decide on what that is. This includes groupings that I think are outright bastards, mostly because to achieve the greater good they select a good they feel is greater than the rest and screw the rest...
But yeah, it would be keen. Small numbers is really the key.

A very good point.
My problem with your statement of friendism is that it trivializes social and political and religious identities that are important to people. If only the Pope could put aside Catholicism.. if only Rwandans could put aside their entire lives and identities and cultural education. It can't be done and it shouldn't be done.
From another dimension, buying bananas supports an incredibly cheap and exploited labor force. Banana pickers do in fact risk deadly tarantulas and it's hard labor in the hot sun for not very much money-which is why bananas are cheap in your supermarket. If you told peoeple to give that up because they are hurting someone else (or some analogous example) how many people would be willing to respond? How many fewer people would be willing to give up chocolate, oil, various products that hurt their potential friends in the world? It's not easy to be a real friend, especially on a global level to someone you've never met especially when it means deprivation for yourself.
