Is this retaliation to that frozen island off Greenland which Denmark put a flag on?

The article says that Canada is involved in Arctic border disputes with 4 countries. Obviously Denmark, and I assume Russia and the US. But who is the fourth nation?

The territory is Canadian.
It is wrong for Denmark to place their flag on it.
Isnt it amazing, that Gagliano, who is in the Canadian news about Millions of dollars that have gone missing, who was recently a Minister of the Government, and better yet, former Ambassador! - to Denmark, when recalled, the Denmark Government sends a team to plant a flag --- even though Canada has no official representation to the nation??
Hmm INTERESTING!
Go Cananda! Kick their European arses! Do it for the Commonwealth!
It's obvious Canada should retake their invaded territory...by force

I thought about that, but I didn't figure that Norway would have territorial claims that far away. But that'd be my first guess.

It's south of the Aleutian Islands. Not even close to the Arctic Circle.

How rude of Denmark. This reminds me of the island off the coast of Morocco (Perejil?) that Morocco landed military forces on - the island is also claimed by Spain.

Hey folks.. that's not the Canadian way. As a Canadian if the land is rightfully ours (as I'm sure it is) we will resolve it with diplomacy.. that is the Canadian way. We prefer to use our minds then use of force. I'm sure Denmark is a lovely place with reasonable people and it will all get worked out. Perhaps we could have a best of three Hockey game to settle it. Hehe.. Canada is the second largest land mass in the world.. I don't think we have to freak out over a little bit of land. If it's ours, we will get it back without violence no doubt.

No offense to you or your nation, but that's crap. If Canada's sovereignty was violated in a meaningful way (i.e. not some lousy rock in the Arctic Ocean), regaining it by force would be a very likely possibility. Obviously in this instance, there won't be any blood spilled, but if a serious transgression of Canada's territory occured, say, the U.S. annexing British Columbia, Canada would mobilize an army just as any other nation would.

Oh no argument there..being invaded is a totally other story. In fact the US tried to invade Canada some years before confederation. Needless to say we know how it turned out. However, I was simply saying in this case I believe we will handle it with diplomacy. I just can't see my fellow Canadians getting their panties in a huge bunch over this case. Now if some country tried to take our country or change our way of life.. you bet we'd fight.. I'd be first in line. However, we prefer not to if we don't have to. For us it's a last resort unlike some countries I could name where it would be their first resort.
I'm sure this must be legitimately Danish territory. Denmark doesn't just seize territory which doesn't belong to it. The Canadians have made a mistake.
And of course Canada will never take military action against Denmark. To do so would be to find itself at war with the entire EU.

Actually, Canada and Denmark are both members of NATO. War isn't going to happen.

Actually Greenland is Danish.
The native’s lives in Greenland, in the Viking age Norway owned it then the black plague destroyed Norway and Norway went from being their own nation to a Swedish or Danish vassal. During that time Greenland fell into Danish hands. In modern times Norway tried to get Greenland back through legal means. But since the Courts thought that the Native population should themselves decide which nation they should belong to Greenland is still Danish. Canada is not trusted by the Greenlander mainly because what you did to their kin in Canada. So if Canada wants some more natives to exploit they have to either threaten or invade.

This may be a little of topic but... NATO? The USSR and its Iron curtain has dissolved, whats the point. OK OK I know China is still communist but common they are not as radical as they were. I even predict a change to Socialist maybe? Any way whats up with several other countries being admitted to NATO. Has anyone realized that the US might be trying to keep control over the EU through NATO???

If we use Konan-koku's suggestion, then Tie Domi may very well shed some blood over this.

I was being hypothetical. But of course EU membership is far more relevant than NATO membership. NATO's obsolete. The European Union would defend one of its Memeber States attacked by an outsider.
And both sides having NATO membership has never stopped Greece and Turkey being militarily hositle, has it?

The natives were exploited all over North America and in Greenland as well. If you haven't noticed, Canadians have in general attempted to rectify the situation. Granted, I am a southern Canadian who hasn't even lived in Canada for the past six years, but I really don't think Native exploitation has much to do with this. Besides, we don't want Greenland. We just want the proper border set between our country and the Danish territory.
