Poltical Arrogancy

I was talking with someone who claims these two poltical stands I support are arrogant towards foreginers (we are both Americans):

Opposing the Death Penalty

The government should not interfere with the personal lives of its citizens, and if it *has* to, it is kept to a bare minimum

Non-US posters, your replies would be most appreciated

Given that both relate to domestic issues, I don't see how these could be construed as being directed toward foreigners in any way.

Not only that, but I fail to see how they be interpreted as being arrogant.

I'd be interested to know if the person you were speaking to explained what it was about these two statements/viepoints that they found arrogant.

Without explanation it just seems absurd to say that a stance against the death penalty, or a stance opposed to government inteference is arrogant, but I would give the person the benefit of hearing their explanation before dismissing their views.

maybe because foreigners take these things for granted?
Do you even know what the other person meant when they said "foreigners"? Because that could change the truth of my first statement there quite a bit.
Maybe they meant the band
who ROCKS by the way
But no, I don't think your views are arrogant (though I'm american)- they're just right.
