Outsourcing Politics.

I have a great idea. Instead of paying U.S. congressmen and state governors such huge salaries, I suggest that if we ship these jobs overseas we can save millions.

What we'll do is get some low cost politicians in India or Pakistan who can do the job of our U.S. congressmen and governors for as little as $2000 per year. The savings will be immediate and lasting. Best of all, by requiring 14 hour days 7 days per week, and limited bathroom breaks, we can get MORE for our money. *nod*

Can we just send the government over there and pay them the Pakistani wages? I swear, the best way for Congress or the Executive Branch to figure out what the common person needs would be to force them to live on what we make, eat the food we do, do the kinds of work we do and worry about the kinds of stuff we worry about just for a couple of months or so.

That's the ticket--if you get elected, before you assume office, you have to live, for three months, in the poorest part of your district or state working at a fast food/Wal-Mart/other minimum wage type job with no health benefits and no outside source of income. You've got to be someone's bitch for 3 months before you get to make laws that affect us. Who knows--stupid as most politicians are, they might just learn something.

Why don't all the poor people just work very hard, and become politicians?

Why don't all the poor people just work very hard, and become politicians?
It is difficult to tell where the omnipresent government stops and the rest of society begins . . . the average income tax rate is 76%, and even higher for the wealthy. :roll:

That's the problem. Vast government ---> Vast state payroll ---> Massive taxation.

Why don't all the poor people just work very hard, and become politicians?'The Two Bums'
from The Hobo's Hornbook

The bum on the rod is hunted down
As the enemy of mankind;
The other is driven around to his club
And feted, wined and dined.

And they who curse the bum on the rods
As the essence of all that is bad
Will greet the other with a winning smile
And extend him the hand so glad.

The bum on the rods is a social flea
Who gets an occasional bite;
The bum on the plush is a social leech,
Blood-sucking day and night.

The bum on the rods is a load so light
That his weight we scarcely feel,
But it takes the labor of dozens of men
To furnish the other a meal.

As long as you sanction the bum on the plush,
The other will always be there,
But rid yourself of the bum on the plush
And the other will disappear.

Then make an intelligent, organized kick,
Get rid of the weights that crush;
Don't worry about the bum on the rods

Maybe I should clarify what I am saying, in virtually every country in the Western world people have equal chance to be very rich if they work at it. I was being ironic saying that instead of giving handouts to the people in poverty, let them work and earn money for themselves, encourge people to take jobs, stop them being reliant on the state, the irony was that they could earn money getting a highly paid job by becoming a politician.

Yes, all poor people are lazy and choose to be poor while all rich people worked hard for their wealth and have never heard of inheritance.

He wrote a chapter about this in his first book. It's not that revolutionary.

I never said that, it was implied, in any case someone origionally had to work for that inheritance, it is up to them who they leave it to. I was showing, in my opinion the only fair way, to aleviate poverty, however I think it has not drifted from the purpose of the thread.

Those who accumulate them should not be praised but shunned.

So if you do very little work, contribute little and earn little you should be praised?
