This should make uncomfortable reading for Brits and Americans.
It will if you have a concience.
It won't if you don't.

I was one of the people who protested against the war, so I'm just going to sit here & watch the body-count mount up and say "I FUCKING TOLD YOU THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN", okay?

Most of the reported deaths seem to be caused by suicide attacks plus the intra-Iraqi shootout at the Baghdad morgue.

If we pull out will these decrease or just get worse?

This is an artificially created country made up of groups of people who hate each other. Saddam controlled them with oppression. How will they be controlled now?

In other words...

Iraqi Civillians killed per year by US forces: less than 8,000

Iraqi civillians killed per year by Saddam: over 100,000.

What's your point, man? We've done a great job.

I have a feeling that the place is going to end up a complete political shitfight, like Yugoslavia.

The problem with that site is: almost all of those killed were killed by other Iraqis, not the coalition, i.e., suicide bombings at the Shi'ite shrines by Sunis vying for power. I'll bet they add the 600 'civilians' we've killed in the last week, eventually. Some list this is.

It probably will, and it'll probably end with a split roughly along religious lines, with similar ethnic cleansing of any minority pockets in both. And if that happens, the Kurds will be up in arms about wanting their own section of the nation. It's going to be a mess.

Not quite. The 8000 is the number of civilians killed in the last year, period. Not the number killed by the U.S.

I don't think that it's any mistake that the only way Iraq has remained united over the last century and a half was by having a repressive regime in control.

But Saddam had much more time, so if we wait some years...per year. That's an average. That number comes from all iraqis killed in the last 20 years, divided by 20.

And of course, the latter comes from the kills in the last 1 year, divided by 1.

If I may intrude into all these statistics and clever pictures.
It's laughable that anyone should defend the Bush cabal by trying to say that it has killed less innocents than Sadaam. We are subject to a barrage of government propoganda telling us how evil Sadaam was/is (of which there is absolutely no doubt), and how the compassionate and democratic US and UK have rid these poor people of the oppressor.
I was under the impression that we should expect innocents to die cruelly at the hands of Sadaam, just as I was under the impression that the 'decent' democracies are Christian faith based and will do anything, even illegally invade sovereign nations to protect them. How is it that we are now arguing which side has killed / is killing more people?
