Nothing wrong with a little luck. Of course, with slighly under 50-50 odds (assuming that the wheel had two green slots), it was a reasonable bet.

I wish him the best.

Good for him, it was 50-50 he could have lost it all.. :D

I didn't bring this up in the last thread on this, but it reminded me of the British political comedian Mark Thomas who bet the entire budget for one of his programmes on a horserace and lost: the next episode was shot with a single portable camera in the living room of his mate's flat.

Hmm, I wonder if Las Vegas is going to be invaded with people who have sold everything they've got just to bet once after this success?

Would it not have been 19-18 against - does an american roulette wheel not have one 0 and one 00?

Yup, it's like that here too. It's good to hear someone beat the system.

Another way to look at comes from yesterdays Observer
"...Revell sold all his possessions (suits, Rolex, BMW) to raise the stake. Assuming that he was able to sell these items for half what he originally paid for them, his great hope is now to double his money and end up exactly where he started.... A conspiracy theorist would have trouble working out the most likely outcome of tonight's show. It suits the house for Revell to win: for a payout of only £80,000, it can become famous as the casino which doubled up the little guy on live TV."
