First person to guess what letter I'm thinking of as I'm writing this, wins! Wins what exactly, I'm not really sure, but hey, you can win!

(There is a clue in there, somewhere...)

Arkanstan
11-04-2004, 19:09
Congrats for figuring out the clue!

I'll have to think up a new one now, that one went to fast.

You should try me at chess when I'm in my 'chess-trance', Burcemia.

Arkanstan
11-04-2004, 19:21
Lol, okay heres another one.
The letter this time is my nation's favorite letter. And since this one might be real easy, the 4th person to say it this time wins! You can also post your guess 4 times if you want, as long as they arn't all at the same time.

Filamai

AAAHHHH! Are we guessing letters or numbers! And filamai, was the half of part part of the...the thing?

You are still guessing letters. The numbers are the clue. and the half is involved somehow too
Arkanstan
11-04-2004, 19:55
Oops, spelled it wrong. It's PI to the square root of G
Arkanstan
11-04-2004, 19:56
OHHHHHH! Well, it all seems to be much clearer now...
Burcemia
11-04-2004, 19:56

The Elven People

Filamai
11-04-2004, 19:57

Arkanstan
11-04-2004, 20:00
Oh, duh i get it, shoulda got that one....
Upper Irata
11-04-2004, 20:01
The numbers correspond to different letters -their place in the alphabet. The last number in the sequence is "10", or "J". Half of 10 is 5, which would be "E".
Arkanstan
11-04-2004, 20:01
I'm surprised some new ppl joined. Most probably just looked at our conversation and just said, "what the hell, I'm outta here"

I suppose I should put one up. In the spirit of the math based one, here's:

a, d, i, p, y, j, w, l, ?

edit, to make the sequence clearer:
A, D, I, P, Y, J, W, L, ?
Arkanstan
11-04-2004, 20:09
Hmm, I see no pattern...dam i gotta go soon :(
Upper Irata
11-04-2004, 20:11
It's similar to the one I answered, but with a twist.

Here's a pretty big hint.

1, 4, 9, 16, 25, 10, 23, 12, ?
Filamai
11-04-2004, 20:13
Now I don't know about you guys but I think that was way too easy!

Guess the letter!

(1A / 2) = ?((A / 2)+8 )

[Edit: Whoa, spent too much time formulating this. Carry on then do this next.]
Arkanstan
11-04-2004, 20:16
Ah jeez Filamai I think I had something and then you put that up there and my haed blows open :?
Arkanstan
11-04-2004, 20:17
Ah, I gotta go guys, keep at em!
Filamai
11-04-2004, 20:17

I should write a puzzle book.
Filamai
11-04-2004, 20:39
I'm going to bed now, but rest assured I can and will make more cryptic puzzles than the easy ones I've layed down here.
The Elven People
11-04-2004, 20:39
I'm confused, surely 1A = A and therefore (A/2) can't = ((A/2)+8)
Filamai
11-04-2004, 20:41
I'm confused, surely 1A = A and therefore (A/2) can't = ((A/2)+8)

I'll give you the same advice as before, think laterally as well as logically. I assure you it's not irrational and bizzare, even if it does look it at first glance.
Arkanstan
11-04-2004, 21:23
Hey everyone, I'm back! Not that anyone probably cares...and everyones probably already gone, but if anyone can solve the problem on page 4, (I think its page 4) you win!
Kalmykhia
11-04-2004, 21:35
Upper Irata's is C I think. The pattern is the square numbers, cycled round the alphabet. J is the tenth letter of the alphabet, second time round, so the thirty-sixth letter. Am I right? Can't get Filamai's off hand though. I'll try again after wee while of thinking though.

You are correct! It's pretty obvious if you see the 1, 4, 9, 16 to start with that it's a pattern of squares.

Ah dam! Why can't I ever see these? Man, it's so obvious now, grr... well, hats off to ya Kalmykhia, congrats. Okay, I think I got one:

1,3,7,13,21,31...

You cannot get this one!
Arkanstan
11-04-2004, 22:09
Oh c'mon, nobody's gonna even take a stab at what the letter is?
Upper Irata
11-04-2004, 23:00
Q for this last one. The next number in the list is 43.
Filamai
12-04-2004, 03:54
I'll give you guys a hint: 16
Arkanstan
12-04-2004, 03:58
Nope, isn't Q. Even though the next number would be 43, this one isn't the same as the others.
Freedorandack
12-04-2004, 04:00
the answer is 1?

12-04-2004, 04:01

Kalmykhia
14-04-2004, 21:13
Guessing at Arkanstan's is w, the 43rd letter of his post (grabbing at straws here). And Filamai's still has me stumped... even with the clue. Help?
