Passover, the one Jewish holiday that I can NOT stand
Nothing to do with the holiday itself (I am greatly relieved that God freed my ancestors from slavery), it's just the time that it occurs. Every year, for as far back as I can remember, it has fallen on my birthday. You know what that means? I haven't had one single birthday cake in my entire life! I can't enjoy the pizza that I love to eat, or any of the dozens of other confectionary delights that involve yeast. It kills me! Seriously, God couldn't have waited another week to free us? Maybe gone a week earlier? How about he just add a week to the year so the holiday lands on a different day? I just want one cake! Is that to much to ask for?
Your like me. Except I wish my birthday fell on July 4th! Off by 13 days...damn....
All those fireworks...I could pretend they're for me!
Wah!? Passover is King! I grew up in a Jewish neighborhood and went to passover someplace almost every year. I could never keep myself from eating that apple-cinnamon stuff (I cant remember what it's called formally) before I was supposed to. I learned my lesson one year though, when I mistook the horseradish (one of the 'bitter herbs') for a stick of jicama, and got an awful surprise. I never made *that* mistake again.

All those fireworks...I could pretend they're for me!Before or after? Because if your birthday is after, you can just celebrate a late Bastille Day--or my nephew's birthday (he loves fireworks).

July 4th is everyone's birthday! It's the Nation's birthday, so if you're a citizen, it's yours too, in a way. My birthday's the 6th, so sometimes it's on the Fourth of July weekend, which is King! 8)
You can make kosher for pesach cakes with matzomeal and other stuff.
I know (I actually had one this year), but they're never the same. It's a Passover cake, not a Birthday cake. It's what the cake symbolises
My favorite is the Gefilte fish and the apple stuff. The brisket or liver is a close third though. :P

Um, you do realize that due to the disparity between the Hebrew lunar calender and the Gregorian one, that we use in most of the western world, Pesach bounces around so it won't always fall on your birthday right? Especially in leap years for the hebrew calender (which adds an entire month). Well... unless you live in Israel and celebrate your birthday on it's date according to the Jewish calender, in which case you're screwed :?
I am aware of the Lunar calendar and the difference between it and the Solar calendar used in the U.S., however, the length of Passover (8 days) usually still lands it on my birthday. It's like a conspiracy!

I just want one cake! Is that to much to ask for?
Well, since you celebrate your birthday on the Gregorian date, eventually you'll get your one cake...
Yes, but I'm a teenager. Eventually doesn't count! I want it now! Now Now Now!

Hehehehe... at least go figure out when you'll escape our celebration of escape to celebrate your birthday with a leavened cake. (ya, that's right, escape our celebration of escape to celebrate, say it five times fast). There are tons of tools out there to play the "What day will/did this Jewish holiday fall on in XXXX year" game.

In the literal sense, it is! We're a single generation of the Great Experiment, and the Fourth is a celebration of another year (or the new year, depending on your perspective) gone by.

What I'm saying is: the Fourth is the Nation's birthday. If you're a citizen and care for your nation, then it's partially your day too. It's everyone's day! It's like Veterans' Day, Flag Day, Memorial Day and Labor Day rolled into one. Fun, too.

August 8th, one day before the National Day of Singapore. GREAT! THE LUCKIEST NUMBER IN CHINESE TRADITION BUT AVOIDING THE NATIONAL DAY OF SINGAPORE.

Heh, I see it now. Next 4th, just stand up and yell "THANKS, THIS IS THE BEST BIRTHDAY EVAR!"
See what kind of looks you get. :p

I am a citizen, and I belong to a nation but... (drumroll) ...I'm not American. Shocking, I know, but July 4th is not everyone's birthday.

Similarly, I am American, and have never considered the 4th to be "my" birthday. (Nor do I necessarily associate it with "the Nation's" birthday- even if I did, I'm not sure I'd necessarily celebrate it as such.)
The whole concept of a country having a birthday seems kind of asinine, anyway.
