Witchcraft and Wicca are becomeing more and more popular, are you one of these people do you want to be one of these people? What most people dont relaise is that it is not about "Devil" worshiping and summoning evil forces it is on the other hand getting i touch with your iinner powers and nature, but there is also much more to it,my question is this, are you a Witch or Wiccan , both in my opinion are very simaler,in a way.And as i said before its not about Devil worshiping.

Is there a sauna next to the pool?

Heh, at any rate, no, I'm Christian, but I have studied as many religions as there are books written on them, even made a fake one of my own to piss off my religion teacher in high school. But I digress.

Part of the young Wiccan "movement" tends to be from an adolescents desires to be a part of something bigger than themselves, and yet, at the same time, be 'different'. Such a desire pushes young people towards such mysticism (although many other religions offer similar answers), but it often doesn't keep them there. This is not to say that I think Wicca isn't valid (see my "Kali Anastasi" post), I just think that many people are drawn to it as more of a fad than a religion, and that saddens me.

There sure is!

I'm happy to say that I'm pagan and have been delving into the art of Wicca for the past 5 or 6 years. I love it. And IT'S NOT ABOUT SATAN! :P It very much connects you closer to nature and the 'forces of life', so to speak.

And yes, it also saddens me when I see people taking on my religion (or at least saying they do) just so they can say they are part of that. They soon get bored.

So, why is Wicca, Witchcraft, etc., becoming so popular? Is it because "standard" religion fails to "fill" the need individuals feel for self realization? Or, is it because they are merely in the vogue?

Because it's time for the false gods(Jesus and pals) to fall and fade into nothingness.

Sorry, I can't stand debates that denounces other's religion. If you believe in what you believe, as long as it neither harms nor inconveniences others, go for it. It takes all kinds, after all.

What most young people drawn to Wicca et al. fail to realize is that they can also be a part of something larger than themselves with almost ANY religion. And the mysticism...? Even certain denominations of Christianity (*cough* Eastern Orthodoxy *cough, cough*) has that. These young people are drawn to a fad, nothing more.

I feel sorry for those who truly believe in Wicca and Paganism who have to put up with these ig'nant whippersnappers.

Funny that there should be a post about this....

in the Welsh town where I live, hardly anything ever happens- very little crime, not much scandal, no big corporations or government departments have headquarters here... in fact, if ever I do see the proverbial 'boy with head stuck in fence' I'll be sure to let the local newshounds (all three of them!) know.

The local paper is only a weekly rather than a daily that you'd have in a city, and even then there's hardly much to report. Thus, just a few weeks ago, the people of this town were greeted by their local paper's headline:

HORROR OVER WITCH COVEN SET UP BY CHILDREN

In the year 2004, our local paper, in what must have been the scoop of the century, reported about a group of four 10-14 year old girls setting up a witch coven. Except it wasn't known who these girls were- however, the paper did manage to get in touch with the father of one, who said he would be speaking to his daughter about the affair. The coven advertised a meeting in the local library, to which prospective boy and girl wiccans were invited- an intrepid reporter from the local paper went along- nobody was there. Woooooo

Plus, there was an interview with a local vicar, who said "these girls may think they have control over dark forces... but soon the dark forces will have control over them.." or something like that. Other local 'celebrities' were interviewed to find out what they thought- all were horrified. Witches? In our town?

The next week there were lots of letters written to the paper, almost all supporting the girls- some claimed wicca was a good thing, at least better than sniffing glue and racing cars down side streets like the rest of the kids round here. Some claimed wicca was made-up rubbish but at least it was good the girls had found a hobby. The editorial of the paper claimed their concern hadn't actually been set out to expose horrible evil witches, but that such activities might risk the girls falling prey to paedophiles; such is the hysteria about paedophilia in the UK today that all boys and girls under the age of 16, it seems, must be home by 4pm and wrapped in cotton wool never more than two feet from mummy and daddy.

So someone took it upon themselves to point out that if the paper was trying to express concern about 'unwanted attention', why was it so FUCKING STUPID that it printed- on the FRONT PAGE- the email address the girls had put in their ad they placed in the library?

Mmmmmmuuuuuuuupppppppeeeetttttssssss!!!!!!!!

Still, better than reading about murders and muggings every day, innit?

X-tianity is the biggest fad ever. Why would you want to be part of a religion that incourages cannibalism.

Hey, man, PENIS RULES! W00+!

And on that note... Christianity doesn't encourage cannibalism... it's all symbolic, blah blah blah, I'm sure you've heard it all before so I won't bore you with the details.

I was merely making a point that it was a fad, Sim, and it's extremely frustrating to see you constantly mocking others, most likely because you're insecure about your own beliefs, mmm?

"Not a sermon, just a thought." *shudders* GOD, I hate those radio ads...

Yeah, symbolic. Cause they would have a hard time to drag Jesus out of his grave to devoure him at every service. (That actually would make a good argument to convince those zealots to support cloning)
And yeah, I'm insecure :( ....you see I had a troubled childhood....and i'm so confused about my sexuality too. Why am I so attracted to women??? Is there something wrong with me??? Jesus never got me that red firetruck I wanted so badly... Help me Dr. Phil!!! Please!!!!

Science and religion aren't mutually exclusive. Also, there are scientific concepts which cannot be proven and are more or less taken on faith, like a religion.

If you're sure about your beliefs, but not so sure where they fit into the grand scheme of things, you can find out what religion you might be interested in at the following:

http:/ /www.beliefnet.com/story/76/story_7665_1.html

(you'll need to copy and paste into your browser, and remove the space from between the / and /).

So, who else put "Jedi" on their census form?

My theory is that the name of your religion doesn't matter at all, it's what you think and what you do that are important.

The Blue Dragon.

PS: My spells seem to work just fine...maybe it's the science behind them?
