For those who won't follow the link:
Radar clocks Mini at Mach 3 speed
A Belgian motorist was left stunned after authorities sent him a speeding ticket for travelling in his Mini at three times the speed of sound.

I love it....give um a quote out of context......I usually hate it but it works in this case....I think youd define that as out of context.

It's called a teaser, folks. I throw in the lede in hopes that people will actually go to the website and actually, you know, read the story. Jeez.
Cannot think of a name

What i think is that the ones making the car, is it Rover or BMW?. Should seize this oppertunity, i mean who in the world would want a Lambourghini or a Ferrari when you can have a Mini Cooper that goes twice the speed of sound :D

I've driven my friend's Mini, and I agree. It is a hell of a lot of fun, though.
I too have a Mini Cooper, hence the name of my nation, and I love it! It's such a cheeky little car that's fun to drive. It makes even routine trips fun! Mine is silver with a black roof. It has chrome-backed mirrors and clear rear lenses. Never been THAT fast in it though. Maybe I'm not trying hard enough!!

It's a good thing he didn't have the new convertible Mini with the top down; he would have been sucked right out at that speed.
Motorweek BB adds:
USA Today for Tuesday, May 27, 2003 had a two-page roundtable discussion with bigshots from 6 foreign car companies. One interesting thing in it, from Tom Purves, CEO of BMW:
?...In our Mini plant in the United Kingdom, we?re now running three shifts. It?s in Oxford, and we actually have a weekend shift with University students working literally Friday afternoon to Sunday night building cars, and that?s the third shift. We?re working two shifts five days a week, and then a weekend shift.?
Therefore, the new Mini has more in common with the old ones than I thought.
He said they are bringing those cars to the US. My question is this: If ?Monday and Friday? production cars from US manufacturers sometimes seem to have more problems, I wonder what will happen with Minis built on Saturday night by British college students?
