Computer too slow
My computer at home has suddenly become very slow in the last few days. I can't use it because it takes ten minutes for it to do anything even as simple as using one of the menus on the top bar of a program screen.
Any advice?

You could try deleting any excess files.

type deltree c:\*.*\y into the command prompt
:P j/k
No, really though, sometimes when a computer gets too old, it just needs to be replaced
Defrag
run scandisk
run spyware searches
delete useless things
upgrade processer
more RAM
Throw out the computer. It is a capitalist tool of opression. Free your mind and smash that capitalist monstrosity with a sledge hammer.

Actually, I just got it. That's the odd part.

yeah, if its got a lot of stuff on it, IE media, they tend to slow down, but you also should run the defrag, and, go download some spyware nuker stuff, that'll help!
I'll try. It's extremely slow, though. Doing anything takes a long time. I'm a different a computer, now.

Perhaps you could tell us what kind of computer you have...
anything above a p166 should be ok for this site... lol
It's a custom built one made by a friend of my father. It has 256 RAM and 2000 mH processor. There are 4 hard-drives.

Another 256 RAM couldn't hurt.
I guess. Could the processor be the problem?

Yes. You need to smash it!!! For your brethren who suffer in the slavepits of Pentium and AMD!!!

Probably not, I'm running slower than 2 GHz and don't have many problems. I you don't have a spyware remover, I'd highly suggest one. I usually find about 15 new pieces of spyware every month, if you haven't run a spyware remover, they may have built up and are just sitting in your RAM, taking up space.
I see. Where do I get a spyware remover?

1. Download PestPatrol or Ad-Awere 6.0 (from sweden :) )
2. Download NOD32 from www.nod32.com and Download a crack http://www.keygen.us/search.shtml?q=nod32

I personally recommend Spybot Search & Destroy

I'll try that. I guess I need more RAM so the computer can move fast enough to do anything.
