Roman law was just about as fair as Nazism. You were fine as long as you were one of them. God forbid if you were Jewish or A follower of Christ.

I don't think that's what Trianon means by "Roman Law".

Roman Law is the basis of the legal systems of most countries in continental Europe and South America as opposed to the common law system practised in Britain and the USA.

Not exactly.
Most present day European law is based on the laws introduced by Napoleon.

My understanding is that American law is based on Roman Law, whereas most European law is based on Napoleonic common law.

The Napoleonic code is pretty much Roman Law. Common Law is also derived from Roman Law but through a much more circuitous route and is quite a different way of going about things.
