A question.
Until death do you part?
Why is it not for life do you Join?
This Is for ALL beliefs.
I Join Mine for LIFE
jim
An answer,
In my faith, we view life and death as spiritual things. You cannot join for life, because you may part by spiritual death of one partner.

It is until Death do you part because one my die first, and death is the only thing every living organism can aspire to (the only thing that we all have in common, anyways)
"For life" works if you're into suicide pacts. Or if you die simultaneously somehow.

jimSorry I could have worded that better.
Try it this way.
No human being can say if they will be granted eternal life. That is a choice our God makes. Spiritual death is viewed as eternal death. So we are basically saying we will stay married as long as life exist for both of us. I am aware that your beliefs are not along the same line as mine. But, that is just the way my faith looks at things.
How about: For time and all eternity?
That kinda changes the meaning ;)

I think the whiff of mortality adds zest to existence.
"Until death" makes me think. I'd better cherish this person now while I can. Who knows when one of us will no longer be here.

How about--until it ends.
It is entirely possible that your relationship may not last, so why put that kind of pressure on it?

Until LIFE makes me wonder what the future may hold, not what the past may hold back.
