Daily Dose of Right Thought - 4/5/04

Hello, hello. Welcome to another exciting edition of the Daily Dose. Today marked day 4 of the liberal radio experiment, and the reviews are still not good. They have time...but will they have listeners? Only time will tell...on with the Dose.

- Some news of the world...I thought Germany staying out of the liberation of Iraq was supposed to immunize it against terrorism, right? So, why did they find a high-speed rail line sabotaged recently? Now, I am not saying it was Islamo-fascist terror who did that, but they do have some recent history in Europe of Islamic terror sabotaging trains.

- Racial profiling...a scourge in the United States, right? "Driving while black" has become a rallying cry for Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and others. Oops, one little problem...white women get stopped more often and get ticketed more than blacks in the United States. There goes another way to stick it to "The Man."

- Mike Adams writes at the end of this column Some people say that a conservative is a liberal who’s been mugged. Maybe an N.R.A. member is a liberal whose unarmed friends were killed by the side of the highway on a cold night in January.

- R.M. Gerecht writes that the liberation of Iraq is part of the Global War on Terror, and explains why removing Saddam from power has made us safer.

- Suzanne Fields writes that the lessons to be learned from history depend on who is writing the history.
http://www.townhall.com/columnists/suzannefields/sf20040405.shtml

- Diane West writes that, in the War on Terror, action is always better than inaction. In the 30 months since 9/11, we have not only taken the fight to the terrorists, but also drained the swamp where that scum breeds.
http://www.townhall.com/columnists/dianawest/dw20040405.shtml

- Nothing bothers the military more than "mission creep," whereby one mission turns into something completely different (for example, the Clinton adventures with Bosnia and Kosovo, where the Nation was told "the boys (would) be home by Christmas." Unfortunately, Clinton never said which Christmas. John Leo whacks activist groups for engaging in the same behavior.
http://www.townhall.com/columnists/johnleo/jl20040405.shtml

- Paul Crespo notes that the Democratic voters may be about to develop a huge case of buyer's remorse involving John Kerry. The more the people see and read about Kerry, the less likeable he is.
http://www.townhall.com/columnists/GuestColumns/Crespo20040405.shtml

- Burt Prelutsky has a pet peeve involving election years: the amounts of BS the voters will put up with. Cases in point, the Democratic party, which for years has made its disregard of the military a point of pride, suddenly comes across saying that military service (as in Kerry's) is all-important. Or, the Democrats saying they are for the common man, the poor person, and yet bringing out as nominee a multi-millionaire...ok, a guy who has married two different multi-millionaire heiresses; and his main rival is a trial lawyer (who is a millionaire, too.)

- E. Thomas McClanahan writes in the Kansas City Star, that the War on Terror, the way Bush is fighting it, is the right way to go.

Finally, for something light-hearted,

In this case, Stephistan, you couldn't be more correct. I'd say "right," but well...

I think the racial profiling centers around Tennesse and is not a measurement of the country.

One of our towns was busted as the majority of pullovers were black.

As to the history comments. The writer is correct. She too has an agenda?

Especially that book at they are pitching at the bottom. Liberal lunicy? Snore.....

Well, we wouldn't want Panhandlia to work too hard. It's enough work just pasting all those links ya know!

Oh, and Pan I answered your question. Why didn't you answer mine? (http://www.nationstates.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=137034&highlight=)

that doesnt address profiling at all. that was about tickets given vs. total stops in a given group, which is totally tangential and possibly irrelevant. what we need to know is the break down on stops; are people stopped roughly in proportion with their prevalence in the population? the fact that once you are stopped by the nashville police you are 90% likely to get a ticket no matter who you are simply doesn't tell us anything about profiling.

On a side note, it seems that Panhandlia's "doses" are becoming a target rich zone.

In fact, the article notes that almost twice as many men as women were stopped.

though that fact may be related to driving patterns - men might just be a bigger percentage of motorists. but without some numbers we just don't know.

To be honest, had he not got busted with not even knowing what he was even linking to last week.. I would probably just of done what I always do.. open the thread read his copy/paste of what the story is about  and move on.. but now that I know he doesn't even read them himself.. well that's just too funny not to laugh out loud at..

A funny thing happened in my former town.
Police routinely pull over black guys in nice cars, often "toss" the car, then send the guy off without any write up or record (that's how you keep you slate clean so it looks like nothing naughty's going on; even the daily reports turned in by officers had these encounters expunged)

So here comes a black dude in a new Lexus! Instant stop; toss the car, guy's irate, gets their names and badge numbers, thay just laugh at him and send him on his way.

He's an FBI agent!

He busts those boys good...a federal investigation! Their denials and "clean records" don't mean aything because he has tape of the whole incident.
