For all those flaws you think we have, at least it appears we're not the bigoted, predjudiced ones.

I think they hate Americans cuz America goes and puts its nose in other people's business, not respecting traditions and assuming that only their way of life is the best... or so the government acts. Other than that, they are the wealthiest nation in the world and they use that to justify pretty much anything they wanna do. They don't even respect the opinion of the UN anymore (ex: war in iraq). I believe that America is disliked cuz it's big, bad, and does anything it ever wants

Because we always win in the Olympics.
yes that's exactly it
it was so funny: I was watching CNNNN last year and they went through the streets of Texas (?) just asking general questions and it went something like this:
Q."How many sides do a triangle have?"
Answers given: "Four, now wait. This is a trick question, it doesn't have any sides."
"Two."
Q: Name a country that starts with 'U'
A: Utopia
Q: What's the currency of Britain?
Answer's given: "The dollar."
"What's the currency of Britain? Oh I know, it's the Queen's money right?"
anyway the point to me saying that was....well there was no point it was just a hilarious segment, and I momentarily went, "how oblivious are Americans?" until I realised that was an unfair generalisation based on a few stupid, moronic answers.
I think America is hated more now, because of their current government's actions, and choices they've made, and those god-awful, boring speeches Bush gives: totally uncalled for making jokes about a war where hundreds of his nation's soldiers died for, and the thousands of innocent cilvilians killed because "well, some of them have to die." That's disgusing.

The world hates America now just as they hated the British Empire at the height of its power. Though this hate was not as prevelant as it is now i'm sure the mass media has some part to play in this by making sure us westerners get to see every anti-christian and anti-american protest in the muslim world.
Just like Britain did America must take up the white mans burden:
Take up the White man's burden --
Send forth the best ye breed --
Go bind your sons to exile
To serve your captives' need;
To wait in heavy harness
On fluttered folk and wild --
Your new-caught, sullen peoples,
Half devil and half child.
Take up the White Man's burden --
In patience to abide,
To veil the threat of terror
And check the show of pride;
By open speech and simple,
An hundred times mad plain.
To seek another's profit,
And work another's gain.
Take up the White Man's burden --
The savage wars of peace --
Fill full the mouth of Famine
And bid the sickness cease;
And when your goal is nearest
The end for others sought,
Watch Sloth and heathen Folly
Bring all your hope to nought.
Take up the White Man's burden --
No tawdry rule of kings,
But toil of serf and sweeper --
The tale of common things.
The ports ye shall not enter,
The roads ye shall not tread,
Go make them with your living,
And mark them with your dead!
Take up the White man's burden --
And reap his old reward:
The blame of those ye better,
The hate of those ye guard --
The cry of hosts ye humour
(Ah, slowly!) toward the light: --
"Why brought ye us from bondage,
"Our loved Egyptian night?"
Take up the White Man's burden --
Ye dare not stoop to less --
Nor call too loud on freedom
To cloak your weariness;
By all ye cry or whisper,
By all ye leave or do,
The silent, sullen peoples
Shall weigh your Gods and you.
Take up the White Man's burden --
Have done with childish days --
The lightly proffered laurel,
The easy, ungrudged praise.
Comes now, to search your manhood
Through all the thankless years,
Cold-edged with dear-bought wisdom,
The judgment of your peers!
