except revolutionary socialist groups in europe tend to avoid mass slaughter, not aim for it. however, that has been the consistent strategy of choice for fascist and other extreme right groups.

How can you define "left" and "right" from a terrorist standpoint? In the Army FM for SASO (stability and Support operations) the first sentance mentioned with terrorism is "one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter." My "left" could be your "right" and vice versa.

you cannot classify mass murder into "right" or "left" groups, because they are all the same.

you are correct in the fact that socialist groups in europe tend not to use mass murder as a means to display their message. they do assinate political figures (see the Revolutionary People's Liberation Party/Front , or the Loyalist Volunteer Force) in order to gain a political edge in elections. murder of politcal figures to sway votes toward a canidate and murder of civilians to sway elections toward a canidate accomplish the same mission.

well, you have to take the group's stated goals into account. terrorism (however defined) is a tactic. anybody can use it. but to what end? what they want to accomplish is what defines their left/right position.
