Considering age when debating Politics or National Affairs

I have seen many people, who just by saying something ignorant/arrogant, assumed to be a child. Now think about it. Does age really matter when debating? There are many minors out there who love to debate, and they are very intellectual. The ones of ignorance/arrogance are not usually seen in a place like this. Now... why do some of you scold people because they said something ignorant, off subject, or accused someone of being or doing a certain thing without backing the accusation up with facts, and then immediately assume the person is nothing but a child? Let the flaming... begin.

Age is generally a factor when debating simply due to life experience.
Children have very little of it, and dont understand how the world really works.
Of course..some adults have no idea either.
Children tend to say foolish things becuase they simply dont know any better....and yes....a teenager is still a child.

Some younger people who use this site are actually fairly well read and bright...(I can think of a couple)..
But as for taking thier advice, or listening to thier opinion on world events....I'll pass, thanks.

Personally, I don*t really care about age too much. I fiund I go by maturity not DOB age.

Perhaps the ones who we scold for being ignorant simply came here to learn about politics, became discouraged when we insulted them, and gave up all together.

Well, like I said..theres a couple of bright kids that use these forums, but generally.....age belies maturity.
Most kids are too self-involved to care about politics, or world events.....most..not all.

I am not very old but Id wager I could run my country better than the ones in power (no I am not American  ).

Sadly, young people I know who are politically active are totally blind. All these youth political movements condemn and complain - their lack of experience or plain ignorance causing a lack of initiative. Often I feel as if I am the only intelligent young person out there

Still, it scares me when 25 year olds and even those in their 40's act ignorant. Life experience does not always make you wiser. In many instances it can make you stubborn, complacent and arrogant.

Indeed they are blind to the facts, and it is our job to open their eyes. Most of the children I know who are politically active are "anarchists", and I simply can't stand it when they go on and on about their ideals (Teenage anarchists... do you know any? You must know how annoying they are...). But insted of yelling at them, I try to reason with them, telling them how impossible anarchy is. Yet there are a few minors out there who are very bright and are bound to do great things. Perhaps you are one of them. :o ... Ehh... I know, that sounded pretty corny...

Haha I know what I want. Sadly I have tried to reason, but unfortunately you then get called a fascist, socialist, traitor, fool, idiot etc.

Try to tell young people that if they want to be taken seriously then come up with solutions and stop whinging and many of these "anarchists" (i prefer ideological brats :) ) turn around and insult you. Honestly, I have seen so-called "future leaders" from our youth and I am mortified at what our future would be like under them.

Fortunately, the voting public are not stupid enough to vote for people who complain about everything.

Ah but when you get youth political divisions full of ideological brats it makes it very difficult to get sensible ideas through. One often has to go behind the backs of those you should be getting support from. A sad reality.

I've heard horror stories, though. They don't last very long. It would be interesting to come across a division full of them...

Not an entire division, but the vast majority. It is funny, cause they think by holding forums and condemning everyone (85% of their policy) that they are important and are achieving something. I hope to change that though :D

hey man, most anarchists i know are in their 20s or 30s.That may be, but they are not the ones we are ranting about. I've never met a mature anarchist in my life, and I don't think I ever will. Teenage anarchists are the issue.
