There hasn't been a nice contempory set orwellian nightmare movie recently, along the 1984 sorta theme and the like, and I wanna see one.

Rent Blackhawk Down. That's not the military you see in the movie.. that's a top-secret civilian militia that *runs* the military.

The last movie of the theme of the Police State I saw was a historical movie of the rise of Hitler. It was pretty good, except Hitler spoke the Queen's English.

In anycase, I love Police State movies and books for some reason. Meh

It would have ruled so much though if it were in German, and subtitled...

Yeah. I mean if Mel Gibson can make a movie in Aramaic and Latin they coud at least make a movie about Adi in German you would think.
Also, I think Adi looked a little bit to skinny.

You want to see a movie that's spookily prescient? Watch Network, (http://imdb.com/title/tt0074958/) from 1976, starring Peter Finch.

Oddly enough, Maureen Dowd at the NYT had a column recommending Network on 9 September 2001.

Oddly enough, Maureen Dowd at the NYT had a column recommending Network on 9 September 2001.I only watched it for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and only because it had come up in a discussion about corporate media ownership. People kept referring to it and I figured I ought to inform myself, and man am I glad I did. This movie was filmed in 1976, but the issues it deals with--corporate control of the news and manufacturing it for ratings bumps and the like--are even more important today.
